Worth coming back to play Revenant
Depends what pve end game content you want. There are raids about to hit and of course fractals will be going up even higher. If you state what you are after it is easier to answer your question.
I would enjoy competitive PvP and general casual PvE raiding…but what are fractals? Never jumped into them when I play in the beginning just ran dungeons alot
Ah right, well fractals were released shortly after the launch of the game. They are like a series of exclusive short set pieces/dungeons. At the moment, you do 3 random fractals and then a random boss instance (changing to be easier to get into post expac)
The difficulty runs from level 1-50, with the difficulty and rewards increasing incremently. As you complete a difficulty, it moves your account up to the next one automatically, however you can choose any unlocked difficulty previously completed. This makes it very good for casuals or hardcore plyers.
Higher difficulties have a mechanic called agony which is like a health dot, which can only be countered by something called an “agony infusion” which you earn/craft and slot into ascended tier gear. The higher the difficulty, the higher the agony resistance required
As for pvp, there is a new map and you also have an excellent new system of rewards called reward tracks to earn things from dungeons/end game maps without doing those contents.
Also, for casual pve, you have SIlverwastes – a cooperative map which is also part of the most recent story arc, where teams work together to defend forts and fight off bosses and then defeat a big boss at the end. It is also excellent for farming materials.
The new raid is aimed at skilled and hardcore players and is currently being beta tested this weekend.
Sounds all very inviting
A new mastery system is also coming with HoT. It’s basicly a new PvE endgame system. ANet opted not to raise the level cap, like other games do. But instead you can still grow your character with new abilities past level 80 threw the Mastery system.
Many of the new abilities are used to help you get around the new maps better and uncover new areas and secret hidden things threw out that you wouldn’t be able to do otherwise.
Things like hang glidding, able to use giant mushrooms that make you jump really high, and even the ability to craft precursors for the making of Legendary weapons now.
And that’s just a few of the Masteries ANet says will come with HoT. Plus more coming threw updates post release.
As well, all the old 8 classes are getting Elite specializations, utility skills, and a new weapon each, to help make them all feel new and fresh again.
