If your email is already being used for your GW2 account then you should already be signed up, no?

I didn’t see anyone saying they have failed to sign up for the newsletter on an account that isn’t used for a GW2 account.

I didn’t see anyone saying they have failed to sign up for the newsletter on an account that isn’t used for a GW2 account.

The thing is that I used to get e-mails with every 2 week release. However, these too have not reached my e-mail for the Seeds of Truth or later content. I would reckon you’d get a different message, such as: “This e-mail is already in our mailing list” rather than "Thank you for signing up for the newsletter!

We’ll be in touch soon with the latest Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns™ information."

Not to mention I do reckon they are two separate mailing lists, since one covers “hey! we dropped this into the game today” and the other covers “We’ll drop this into the game at some undetermined time.” People interested in one do not necessarily care to hear about the other.

As far as design goes, I’d reckon they’d at least adhere to Nielsen’s in the case of websites, Error prevention and Help users recognize, diagnose, and recover from errors being two fairly obvious ones here.

In case the logic seems a bit odd to you. It’s pretty much:
The website says I signed up and should get news >
I am not getting news, or confirmations that I am soon to receive news>
Something must be wrong.

Yeah I was just trying to get someone to make a clear statement about their experience with gw2 account emails since it seemed a bit ambiguous thus-so-far.

I’ll report that I put my email that I use for a gw2 account in and submitted it for the HoT mailing list 8 hours ago and haven’t receive a confirmation email.

And it looks like the last news email I got from ANet was on January 24th:
“Guild Wars 2 Expansion Pack Revealed at PAX South”

Not sure if any emails were supposed to go out after that one.

I receive emails from “Guild Wars 2” and “Guild Wars 2 Support.” Same as Mo Mo above, my last received was the PAX South Expansion Revealed one. If there have been any HoT emails I have not gotten them. (I have not tried registering again since I first reported the issue in this thread).

As we bear down on Beta invite time this becomes more of a concern. Would Support be able to check at least those who’ve posted in this thread to see if there’s any issues? I somewhat hesitate to submit a ticket when there’s nothing to say there should be any emails beyond a confirmation of registration, or if in fact all HoT email will automatically go to those who are already subscribed.

It’s just not clear there’s actually a problem when we don’t know for sure we’ve missed stuff that was sent.

Well we wll know we missed one thing that was supposed to be sent. We didn’t get the email saying that we had signed up. However, I just tried signing up again after a few weeks since my last try. They’re showing us a different message than before. There is no longer mention of sending us a confirmation email…so maybe they aren’t doing that anymore?

Looks like I’m making some headway. Status of my tickets is currently:

ANet: The mails are being bounced.
Microsoft: Ask them if the mails are being bounced and if so, ask them to give us this puppyton of info. Along with when you last received an e-mail from them.

Looks like the problem is directly in between microsoft and ANet in my case.

Will supply further information on a fix as I get further in this not-so-hot jungle.

You’ll receive each of our newsletters when they go out.
-We haven’t sent out the first Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns newsletter yet. Since you’re subscribed, you’ll get our newsletters when they go out.
-Our newsletters take a few hours to distribute. If someone you know receives a copy, please allow a few hours for yours to arrive.

So it seems the website just gives a somewhat inappropriate message to people that are already getting newsletters and these newsletters are indeed the same pool of newsletters.

I have suggested that they add a check to see if people are already on the list and give them a different message to avoid future confusion.

If you have not had recent newsletters like me, however, there may still be more going on (Since I haven’t received anything since tangled paths). In this case it might be best for you to contact support and/or your e-mail provider with your own case.
