Yes, you should. Reddit is where the important announcements and conversational posts from devs are made.

Edit: Deleted this post now. I realized that I’ve gone too far with this one and acted very childish because of my anger at the “reddit seems more important than their own forum” topic. It just was the final straw after the four weeks of reading in this forum without much replies from ArenaNet’s side.

I apologize to the developers if someone felt attacked by this. I’ll think about it two-three times before I post something like this again. Sorry… :(

It looks like ANet’s policies shuts down dev’s posting here more than anything else. So, they go to where they can post.

I took the forum posting class our Community Team gives in order to be cleared to post on our official forums twice. I’ve listened carefully to the Community manager and our studio producer who pointed out specific things I’d said wrong. I’ve been pulled aside by my boss to be told that other departments were unhappy with things I’ve said. Every time this happens I sincerely apologize and try to make sure I re-adjust my attitude towards my communication style.

I’m told I can still post, but much much less, and I need to get my posts approved first. So it’s not really a total shut-up. But I know I’d have to come off as a different person if I go through this procedure, which pretty effectively kills the urge.

That’s what I was trying to say earlier, but wasn’t sure if mentioning specific things like Josh’s slaps on the wrist would bring the wrath of the moderators.

The hysterics over there is far greater than anything on the official forums.

Well,after everything they have done,good luck to them,selling next expansion or any game,to us.

Fanboys would buy,but i doubt they will make game for 10.000 people.

As far as i remember,you treat your customer with respect,in order to make him come back and purchase more.

What Arena Net doing,is that they spiting on us,all day long,and we fools,spending more and more money,while they laughing at us.

Example

Customer : I am going to buy 10.000 gems,cba farming gold.

Arena Net employers : Ahahahaha some guy just spent 500 euros on gems.Ahahaha,i told you,making game grindy really pays off.Lets make something else heavy grind req.

Pretty clear anet is so afraid of what they’ve done to the game, that they cant say anything at all, beyond dev tracker posts on bug fixing.
To the vast majority of players, posting on Reddit is saying nothing at all.
They know that.

I find the outrage on dev silence a little curious. I’ve been a gamer for years, but hardly gave a second thought to the ‘men behind the curtain’, and certainly never expected them to check in with the players in any meaningful way. I suppose interacting with the community is the new standard, now that technology permits it.

Interacting with the customer is a normal thing in the world. After all, the game is developed for the customers (and of course the profit, but the profit is closely tied to how the customers see the product and its creator).

I tend to prefer those companies who are openly and honestly communicating, and able to have meaningful conversation with their customers. Yes, even if/when they are not satisfied. It’s a normal thing that can be handled…

Maybe we should make a direct copy of any topic here in reddit and then everybody up-vote it there.
