I agree GW1 was too simplistic, but it still drives you to be the hero, which requires being pushed into certain moral stances. It is also a little more obivious in GW2, but then again my views on moral stances may differ from yours so we would end up going on for days about that also.

You could also be right about the darker elements. I see some but they aren’t overly dark. This is again probably a difference in opinion and we could go on and on about it.

If the Charr weren’t a big part of the story (playable race) The amount of tech that is shown would probably be less. It is just like when we played proph, we didn’t hear about the Asura or Norn. They weren’t part of our story at the time and weren’t important. So I could see the tech being less known if the Charr weren’t a big part because it would be less important to our story.

Yeah, being the “hero” requires a little moral push I suppose, but it’s a relatively simple “good vs evil” scenario…it doesn’t require that much of a push unless you want to play evil toons—in which case you should probably be playing a different game.

There was one example I thought ANet did a great job with. Early on in one the Sylvari story branches there is reference to homosexuality. It doesn’t try to convince you of any moral path to take really, it just throws it out there and kind of says, “it’s out there…deal with it.” Well done.

Granted the main plotline should be more compelling, but after the tenth time of hearing the equivalent of “As long as we are unified we will prevail!” I eye-roll. It’s like they are trying too hard to get you to forget any problems between the races or Orders.

I do agree with hearing the “As long as we are unified” bit. I think they need some better writers to where after some point we realize that yeah we need to be united but this is some problems we face in doing it instead of saying that all the time.

I hope the bigger content that comes in the future learns from this and it is designed to keep us in it so we dont’ start skipping video’s because they say the same thing just from a different person. lol
