Read the title :p
I don’t know anything about any jumping puzzles, I just get their rewards. Do they have a story? Is there any history about the ruins in certain jumping puzzles? Take the obsidian sanctum in Eternal Battlegrounds. Where did it come from, who built it? I’m just curious :>

I don’t know about Eternal Battlegrounds (everything’s a little fuzzy in the Mists, history-wise), but yours is a broad question. Some jumping puzzles are natural features which you just happen to be able to get up. Some are quite clearly part of ruins that have a lot of story behind them. Each is going to be individual.

Some of the puzzles do, such as the Vizier’s tower which holds a bundle of lore within it, but others are simply there to challange the player with their jumping abilities such as Morgan’s Leap.

Some do. For example, the pirate puzzle in Lion’s Arch has that whole narration through it. Others are just sort of there.

“A man who trusts everyone is a fool.
And a man who trusts no one is a fool.
We are all fools, if we live long enough.”

Urmaug’s Secret is obviously Urmaug’s secret stash of weapons, even though he’s supposedly there for peace talks?
And Troll’s End seems to be where the Troll ended…
Chaos Crystal Cavern is some sort of Inquest experiment, Branded mine is a branded mine….list goes on
It’s just mini things in context, if anything. There are random ones like the Scavenger’s Causeway which has you getting orbs for chests, with seemingly no kind of info as to why.

Only one I know of that has any lore behind it is Grendich Gamble, obviously the area was Grendich Courthouse in GW1. It was an outpost you could visit in game.

The puzzles began in LA when a moustached plumber was sent into the sewers concerning some turtle problems with Water Closets. He jumped to places they never thought possible.

“I have begun my journey in a paper boat without a bottom.”

As a mechanic, obviously not. Not any more than the 5 man dungeon limit has a lore based reason. But most dungeons have at least some kind or lore connection, mostly hinted at through the title.

Then again, spelunking doesn’t need a lore based reason. Being there for fun’s sake is more than enough. It is a game for Melandru’s sake.

I think jump puzzles have some sort of lore, at least some of them. In Lion’s Arch there is one(quite fun) where you gotta find Dead Captain, I think his name is Morgan.

… You gave me an idea I just won’t be able to let go.

A prison-well of King Palawa Joko somewhere in the Desolation of Elona, filled with both living and undead Elonans who rebelled against him. At one of the story steps you are captured and taken there, and in the next you have to climb out while all the other prisoners are chanting “Rise!” in Elonan…
