Now I know I am late (I usually have this up right at the beginning for the lore part of the forum) and I know most things are allready talked about.

However, it seems as there is no general thread about this Episode, aside from the counterpart in the LW forum, i guess?

Again, spoilers for those who haven`t played it yet

The Library
I didn`t like it this time.
It seems like they went out of your way to be vague. Each of the new book was just a summary, instead of some lore info.
I would love to look in several of the books, though.
The whole thing with the non-ascension felt like a cop-out: You will ascend, without ascending. And recreating the whole oredal of the crystal desert to tingle the nostalgia bones just felt weird.

I didn`t like it. It didn`t really make sense. Why did the echo do it, if it was nothing more than an echo? Did they intend it to be the real Turai at first and changed it in the end? What if i performed the ritual in an enclosed little room? Would we still run around?
I don`t know it felt weird.

The attack on the Pact
Very predictable, but kudos for atmosphere.
However this is a szenario that sounds good on paper, but didn`t really translate well into the game.
I really liked the dread. I went down several times. However the conclusion was kinda aprupt.
Hero, I think it is time to light the signal flare
Wait? only now? We lost several people. What has changed? We were pushed from one loosing fight to the next. We have no shelter, we have no secured position. We were loosing.
Then we got an Airstrike, which appearently can aim better then any bombing run in the irak war. Only killing the enemy? Then cut?
Felt a bit like a DeusEx Machina for me.
(also, can we light the signal fire with fire magic or attacks, instead of a the torch?)

Caithe`s secret
So yeah. The supposed energy or secret to control the Sylvari is that they are dragon minions… good twist. Still unsure how to feel about it.

Caithe on the otherhand just became my least favourit member of destinys edge.
The whole thing just felt arkward and weird and… I didn`t like it.
Caithe, kill me, or she tortures me…
Why? Is Caithe notorious for being gullible and not able to stand up on her own?
Wouldn`t that have been a good time to show that she has some backbone?

Even if she is confused, rattled by the words of Wynn, there are so many other ways.

So far the whole Caithe/Faolain ordeal is just really weak for me. I just don`t feel it.
It all happened much too fast to keep me emotionaly invested.

btw. How does Caithe know about the Eldar Dragons? I thought only few Firstborn traveled far and they had not much conncection with the outside world.
Did the pale tree tell them about them? Were Zaithans undead allready there?

The Shadow of the Dragon
Getting into the big open space, it was sooo obvious that there was a big fight.

Loved the fight for it`s mechanics, didn`t really like the solo aspect of it.
We first fought him off alone at the pale tree and now we defeated him with a devine flame, aka the right tool.
It made him seem so weak. More so as he had complete control over the battlefield.
Tequatlles brother felt much more intimdating. We needed an army to bring him down.

He is the only tangible antagonist we had this season and he got dispatched mostly solo, with a little help from my friends.
He only apeared once before and then for no reason again. Then died.

Okay… dragon champions have very little to work with, but for a season antagonist these just don`t work. He was just there as an obstancle.

Liked the fight though, even though I felt like a ragdoll most of the time.

The finale
Hah, i knew it. Pact is going down.
Sylvary sleeper agents, helping Mordremoth. Good twist. Kudos.
Still unsure how I feel about it and if Anet can pull it off, but yeah.
Even though many suspected it.

However, where were all the dozen of ships parked? Even a second Glory of Tyria? Awesome.
Would have loved to see that in the sky somwhere. I want to see the docks etc…

Liked it. It`s a good ending. Would have liked to see it at the same time as Wynn revealed the secret, though. Or after we ran back to the Pact to warn them, only to get the message that we are to late.
Now it just happens and we have no connection to it, which is a shame. My character will get this news only with the next update, which makes My Characters story just feel unfinished.
Season 1 had a better conclusion, even if it was a cheesy Sitcom ending.

The Teaser
Whoohoo a cvil war. Lots of cool grafics and lines being shouted.
Liked it, though Rytlok seems to wear his old armor?

Overall I am underwhelmed by this Episode. The best part for me really was only the attack on the Pact and the Twist.
Otherwise the whole thing felt only like a means to an end.

Which is weird. I came in with very low expectations and it was just Okay .
I really hope all the set up in this Season was worth it. Because while the writing got better, the feeling of satisfaction just isn`t there.

Hm, been a while since I dabbled into the lore. Saw the spoilers and read up on past episodes even though I merely unlocked them and logged out.

It’s pretty obvious Caithe has still a role to play in this story, the line she mentions about “stopping destiny” is more or less her determination to break whatever link Mord has over the Sylvari. The classic double-agent arc where we all think she’s betrayed us and then sure enough, she helps save the day.

As for the Civil War, well come on. Who honestly, that hadn’t been debating this since launch, didn’t see there some kind of unique tie between the Sylvari and Mordremoth. I think it’s cool, it’s only natural that a species comprised of fauna and earth end up being deemed a threat in social structures. Especially with Scarlet’s attack on Lion’s Arch, the people of Tyria would be wary and now you have Caithe whose role to play may not be over but a famous member of Destiny’s Edge ends up going rogue.

Makes me chuckle though at all those who argued strongly against the theory. Looking forward to seeing where it goes form here though.
