How did the Pale Tree grow so tall?
I highly doubt that just because a specific number of people were killed/buried in the same location, the barrier between the Mists would somehow weaken. That would mean that any battleground or even every village raided by bandits would create the same effect and vegetation would grow wildly in those locations.
Probably, it’s simply the way those kind of trees grow. Keep in mind, the tree had about 250 years to grow to the size it is now. The original plant and thus its seeds seem to be magical in one way or another.
In-game characters assume Malyck’s tree does not participate in any sort of shared consciousness ( even though I feel that the fact that Malyck feels “a sense of distance and loss” might be an indication otherwise) but since we know next to nothing about that, we have literally nothing to go on.
Btw: where did you get that souls have to pass a portal to get to the Mists? I think, it’s only people who are alive that need one.
The size of the pale tree may have something to do with the magic of the area, but I don’t think that a single (even large) grave site would be the cause. Given that the Tarnished Coast is known for its abnormally high levels of magic, the tree’s size may be more related to the general abundance of magic in that region of Tyria.
This then begs the question of why the Tarnished Coast is so abundant in magic; that may be explained by the supposed magical ley lines that run through Tyria. Ultimately, we don’t know anything about the ley lines other than speculative paths. Hopefully more will be revealed in the living story.
The Maguuma Jungle has a very common tree species within it called the Stonewood. They can grow very very tall indeed. And think of the Echovald Forest trees, which are just as large as the Pale Tree – and the entire forest is of them. Gargantuan trees are not that unique.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Ventari and Ronan used Miracle-Gro.
Tree hgh.
Wouldn’t that be TGH?
