Human naming question.
While the naming convention for Sylvari runs more on the celtic side, there isn’t anything that says humans can’t have celtic-sounding names too.
There are Human NPCs within the game that have Celtic/Gaelic names. Aidem Finlay, Elmo Finnigan, Killian, and more.
There’s a big ol’ list on the wiki that has names of Human NPCs that you can take a look through if you like: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Category:Humans&pageuntil=Carnie+Jeb#mw-pages

generally speaking, the humans are split in these “bloodlines”
Ascalonian: usually of “european” looks and names (ranging from Russian to English)
Krytan: usually of “mediterranean” looks and names (spanish, italian, etc)
Orrian: usually of “arabic/egyptian” looks and names
Canthan: usually of “asian” looks and names (with notable exceptions)
Elonan: usually of “african” looks and names
Perhaps the only RP-oriented guild on the server
Main Character: Farathnor (sylvari ranger) 1 of 22
Just here to confirm what Maethor said. Humans are culturally the most diverse, so many indo-european, semitic and east asian languages would be fine as basis for names.
I think the first one you chose, Conleth, would be best for a human, maybe Conlian too, the others are more in the Sylvari territoy, while still acceptable for human though.
The Norn have Celtic images in their tattoos and styles, but their names tend to be more Scandinavian. So I don’t think it matters really, especially since the humans now are kind of a “mutt” species.
Just use whatever name you want and come up with an interesting backstory to explain it. Maybe your Guardian was raised by, or lived near, a Norn or Sylvari settlement and his family was influenced by that. :P
I troll because I care
Thanks everyone! This was very helpful and I think I will go with Conleth.
Thanks again for all the help!
