What are you claiming to be “speculation”? Since you post right after mine – which definitely isn’t but the very foundation of Exalted lore – it seems like mine is the one you refer to.
The egg is definitely more than to help sylvari. A Study in Gold indicates that Glint’s legacy end-goal “will seed the new dawn of civilization.”

It’s just speculation at this moment, but there is a tool in storytelling that writers overused. it’s call the TWIST. Variation of TWIST has happened before and in Tyria, everything is about doom and gloom. Because that is the only way to move the storyline (in ANET’s perspective). So, I guess that after killing all the Elder Dragons, there is always something that will balance the force. Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, Glint’s egg….etc…..
