The Searing crystals
They probably eroded away, judging by dialouge for the tail of the star god.
Yeah, the ones that remain were some of the largest, especially the ex-pockmark one. I would say many could have been taken out by the Iron Legion to get them out of the way, like much of the ruins of Ascalon. Other option is they eventually broke down.
Cavern filled with them? I don’t recall such, unless you’re presuming the chaos crystal cavern jumping puzzle are searing crystals (which I don’t think so – different color, appearance, and far too clustered together in a large amount – unless that’s where the crystals were moved to by the Inquest, it doesn’t make sense for those to be searing crystals).
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Searing crystals don’t really have any sort of magical potential to them that I have seen in game, whereas the chaos crystal cavern has a large amount of magical potential. I would say it is very likely that they are two different things.
Stupid mistake by me. Went there once at launch and assumed now they were Searing Crystals. I’ll have to remember to check this things before posting.
Anyway.
I thought of the possiblity of erosion, but it’s strange both of the crystals we have show no signs of it. If the others eroded away completely without even leaving trails…just seems odd those two don’t even have marks.
I guess its possible they were taking away by the Iron Legion, or rather destroyed, perhaps in a poetic way of saying that they won’t ever need magic again to overcome their foes.
Actually it is very obvious that the one in what was Pockmark Flats has eroded a lot from what it used to be. It is just that the crystal there was one of THE largest searing crystals in game, so even eroding away it is still around. I’d post links, but apparently the wiki doesn’t have a picture of the pockmark shard.

The largest Searing crystal in GW1 and GW2 (wiki does have a picture )

Well, not where I looked, on the pockmark flats page. Not always best at finding what I need there, lol.

“Two and a half centuries have failed to dull these crystalline shards called down by desperate charr during the cataclysmic Searing.”
So apparently it didn’t erode at all. Though that may just mean its still very sharp, but not as large.
I mentioned more than one option. I see that erosion may not have occured, but my thought on the iron legion just taking them out to get them out of the way is still valid. I mean in Iron Marches they are attempting to take down the Great Northern Wall for pity’s sake!

I meant that the Tail of the Star God SP actually implies it never eroded, while the post I replied to said that that specific crystal eroded a lot.
I imagine the smaller crystals would have either been washed away or buried under erosion as time went on. Larger crystals might have been carted off by curious Asura or the Priory for study. The truly large crystals like the ones in Plains of Ashford that were too big to move were simply left there.
I don’t know what to say Beetle. If you view the two separately you can see that the original was much larger than the current.
