Q:
I was in the middle of writing my fan fic when this question popped into my mind:
Which cycle(s) do Scarlet Briar and Trahearne belong to?
In the case of Trahearne, there isn’t anything in the wiki that indicates when he woke up. I’d like to say Cycle of Dusk because he’s an intellectual and a loner who prefers to be with his books. Then again, he could be from Cycle of Dawn because he does alot of traveling and conversing with other intellectuals. Hm….
In Scarlet Briar’s case, I read this passage from the official short story, “What Scarlet Saw”:
““Shhh. I’m thinking.” Ceara opened her eyes to a vibrant world of greens and golds and earthy browns. Sunlight streamed down through the canopy, nourishing the great trees and warming the ground level vegetation. All around, creatures of every shape and size called to one another, exploring, chasing, being chased, always in motion.”
From this description, it sounds as if she was born during the Cycle of Noon. This surprises me because she’s an engineering genius. She’s far from the action-hero Sylvari that are common in the Noon Cycle. She would seem to be the type that belongs in Kahedin’s group. Then again, her awakening at noontime would explain why she eventually rebelled. I don’t see her giving any respect to Niamh. Perhaps she would of thought that Niamh was just another dumb warrior. Just a thought.
I’m only asking this question because I’m trying to keep my fan fic as close to the official canon as possible. Does anyone know the answer to this question?

A:
Trahearne is of the Cycle of the Night. I don’t remember which PS step it was stated in, but I think it is only mentioned for sylvari. He’s the very first sylvari born (the first of the Firstborn) and the first of the Cycle of the Night.
Fun fact: The Firstborn are split evenly amongst their cycles – three per, and iirc, it was stated to be one sylvari born per cycle per day (e.g., all twelve born over 3 days’ time – poor Trahearne, all alone for about 6 hours, hah).

Scarlet, I know for a fact, has not been officially assigned a cycle. Awakening in full sunlight would rule out Night, and maybe Dawn, but either Noon or Dusk are possible. both would fit her character too- Dusk sylvari are intellectual and studious, and noon sylvari are direct and would generally seek knowledge to solve a problem rather than for its own sake. I wouldn’t be surprised if she awoke sometime during the transition between the two cycles, really.
Trahearne, I don’t believe, has a stated cycle either- though it might be buried in a personal story step I haven’t done. I would assume Dusk. He really doesn’t fit Dawn, since he was stated to be a loner by habit and preference up until the creation of the Pact.

Do we know who all the Firstborn are? It seems strange they hold such high status yet I don’t think they’ve all been made known to us.
We only don’t know 3 of the 12 firstborns.
Here you can learn more about them: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Firstborn
Why does this post have a dev red icon when there are no dev responses
I’m a ninja Dev.
… I wish >_>
Maybe a dev posted and then deleted for some reason.
Not the first time a thread in the lore forum turned red without a red post.
They just gave Konig a dev account without him knowing it so he goes insane and doesnt remember every lore fact that busts the living story. The cause is yourself Konig, stay with us
But honestly a dev needs to respond now so the balance is restored again. Just to sai “Hi” so we know someone read this. At least the red icon was real then.
ANet be like:
“Lore you say? Let me call my buddy, Konig who’s an expert on our lore”
