Anet has a bunch of things that you have to type in the name to destroy it. I don’t know why they don’t do this for ascended items and really expensive items.

I hope you get you perm contract back

Ouch… that must given you a mini heart attack. Yeah, but the service team at ANet are generally nice people. They’ll sort it for ya.

As others mentioned, write a ticket, be polite (in general you should always be polit when you want something from someone else, it helps) and explain what happened.

Also, even if they should decide to not restore it first go (which I doubt especially with this item) stay persistant and keep writing tickets.

I recently did a very dumb move. I had created a new character and took my fractal weapon crate out of bank to see if I wanted to use it for that character. I then proceeded to delete that character a while later.

YUP! I had forgot to put crate back into the bank. I contacted support and admitted my dumb mistake, a day later my item was restored!

They restored some of my cultural armor I had deleted or was lost. Basically after you submit a ticket they just have to do some investigating to infact see that you had this item and when it was deleted. If everything is on the up and up I see no reason why Anet wouldnt restore this for you. We have all made silly mistakes with banked/inventory items Anet is always willing to help.

I hope so… Ugh, I waited 4 years to nab that Hair styling kit… What had happened was:

I had made a new toon last night, Asura, got her into Pre, and immediately got the kit out of my bank, as I also have the Permanent Bank as well with Shared Invetory slots. Opened the bank, got the kit, gave her a new hair style but… then noted that I forgot to set her eye shape the way I wanted.

Eh, log out, deleted the toon, remake the toon. In the middle of doing that it dawned on me, and I started shaking. X’d out of that and logged on my main to chest my bank, it wasn’t there, and I almost started crying…

Should Anet fix this for me,I will reserve one of my share slots for that kit, so that this NEVER happens again. Even my husband gave me wide eyes of disbelief when I told him.

Ugh, omg, I’m SUCH a MORON! I feel so stupid, I do…

For future reference it’s a good idea to follow this process any time you delete a character:

1) Unequip everything – make sure the equipment panel is completely empty. (It’s a lot easier to check it’s empty than to identify items you wanted to keep by their icons.)

2) Sort out everything in their inventory one item at a time. Bank it, sell it, salvage it or delete it as appropriate but don’t just leave it sitting there. Read the name, think about what you want to do with it and then do it straight away. (Or if you want to do items in batches start with stuff you want to put in your bank, then sell on the TP, then salvage, then sell to an NPC, then delete, that way there’s the lowest risk of losing something you wanted to keep.)

3) Remove any extra bags. As with items put them in the bank, sell them or delete them.

4) Double check the equipment tab is completely empty. Then double check their inventory is completely empty and they only have 20 slots (and the shared slots if you have them).

If necessary you might have to repeat some steps. For example if you’re deleting a mule you might have to clear their inventory before unequipping stuff, but that’s exactly when it pays to be extra careful. At the other extreme it seems like a lot of hassle for a quick change to a brand new character, but this topic is a great illustration of why it’s worth it.

I also hope you get it back.

Danikat’s suggestion is a good one. It’s what I do … well, it’s what I do now. If it happens to be an older character, you might also want to check birthday status. I deleted one just before its 3rd BDay, so no dye.

No, it was cool, re-read my last post. I created the character, moments after doing so, I opened my bank and grabbed the perma-hair styling… and noticing that something about the physical appearance, I was like – “Ugh…” logged her out, deleted her and went to remake her again, forgetting I put the perma-kit on her

As far as deleting characters in general? I do everything you had listed… but ti was slo 1 in the morning, brain half asleep, I had forgotten THAT fast that I had the perma kit on her.

Yes, they should restore such an item. Don’t panic.
