who was Dhuum
Dhuum was the God of Death before Grenth took over, with a tower in the Chaos Planes in the Underworld. He was described as “unjust”, and disallowed resurrection and the undead.
With the help of the seven Reapers, Grenth defeated Dhuum (the site is reachable in Malchor’s Leap) and supplanted him, becoming the new God of Death and Ice. Dhuum could not be destroyed, only forced into dormancy.
In Nightfall, it was revealed that Dhuum was aiding Abaddon and Menzies (another dark entity). In one of the missions, players witnessed Dhuum’s emissaries dealing with Abaddon’s minions, and also saw Dhuum’s Tortureweb Dryders working with Abaddon. Dhuum’s minions also played a part in the Domain of Anguish “Elite” mission, but we never saw Dhuum himself in Nightfall.
In a later release, it was revealed that every death in the Underworld strengthened Dhuum, and he eventually reawoke. Players had to defeat him in the Hall of Judgement in the Underworld (after a whole lot of other quests). It was a tough fight. Again, he was only forced into dormancy, not destroyed.
And, that’s all the information I can recall about him! He’s an element of GW lore that I find very interesting
awesome thank you i am really looking forward to learning all about the lore i’m really liking it so far i hope to learn more in the future so ill be asking lots of questions like this a lot
All you need to know of Dhuum – and then here’s some more.
Dhuum was more than just “unjust” – he literally hunted down those who “cheated death,” which, by the sounds of things, included not just the undead and those resurrected, but those who escaped near fatal situations. And based on the Reaper of the Chaos Plain’s description of him during the quest Don’t Fear the Reapers, it sounds like Dhuum even made souls themselves cease to be – though this is just speculation and theorycrafting.
It should be noted on top of what Neilos said that the Seven Reapers were once mortals and were rewarded into immortality as thanks for aiding Grenth, thus becoming his avatars. Furthermore, after Dhuum freeing himself from his imprisonment and being re-imprisoned, he repeatedly broke free and was subsequently put back in place. As such, whether or not he is still imprisoned is a state of unknown, but personally? I suspect he’s free.

It wouldent suprise me if Dhumm is awakend and breaking free into the living world. look at the portals of what usto be Temple of Ages now its the Godlost Swamp. we are seeing Axes and shades and of coarse Shadow Behmoth. i have a feeling we will be seeing dhumm
ok sorry but i didn’t play guild wars 1 so i don’t know who this Dhuum guy is I’ve seen people talking about him but i still don’t know, i mean like I’ve heard of abbadon and the other human gods. please help me out so i can learn more about the lore.
Another reason people might be talking bout him is that in GW1 he was also the person who was banning players. If you where suspended from accessing the game he would pop out of the ground (wherever you are) and use a scythe to one hit you with no ressurection.

Godslost Swamp has shown to hold little to nothing in relation to Dhuum. Those portals are there because of the GW1 players constantly going into the Underworld and Fissure of Woe from the Temple of the Ages.
Aatxes were never related to Dhuum, either. They’re natural inhabitants of the Underworld. And based on what I could find, it seems that Nightmares (Aatxes, Coldfire Nights, Fog Nightmares, Shadow Army, etc. from GW1 and Aatxes, Shades, and Shadow Behemoth from GW2) are simply very hostile/evil spirits.
Though the large amount of Nightmares coming from the Underworld – not just in Godslost Swamp but also Blackroot Cut and Reaper’s Gate – does give an indication that Grenth’s forces may not have adequate control over the Underworld.

i love that video i wish that happened in guild wars 2

Personally I don’t. I love the video as well for the effect and how it looks. However having followed the accountsection of the forum shows that people are really upset over a ban and feel grieved. A public humiliation makes that worse. You can say that it is their own fault. But some bans are done in error. For the other: well the suspension is the punishment. They deserve that and no need to punish further.

I can tell you now, like 80% of those videos were from people egging it on in order to get a vid of them being killed by Dhuum. Just saying. Other than those types of circumstances I never saw anyone get Dhuumed in game.

I did,
It was my (now ex-) girlfriend, she turned out to be innocent and it was rather shocking.

If I remember correctly, this was reserved for a perma-ban. Other than a ton of PvP bots, I didn’t see that many people getting reaped, especially outside the arenas.
I do not believe so. If I remember right this was the animation for a ban period. Although I could be wrong. According to the GW1 wiki the Dhuum animation was for account terminations AND suspensions.
I can only say so for my ex her account. She got banned cause her son changed the password on accident and she changed it back again. I’m not sure how she managed but she didnt have access to the emailadres she used for registering (she had not used it for years and it got expired). So cause it seemed as if her security was breached it was a precaution ban, wich is off course permanent till you contact support and get the ownership dispute out of the way.
