Maybe not where he specifically woke up at, but I think I know where he’s going to lair. And we have Mawdrey to thank for this insight.

The recipes needed to nourish our growing seedling seem to involve a lot of Bloodstone Dust. And just today, someone pinged an item whose flavor text referenced combining it with Bloodstone Bricks. (So help me, if it asks for a Bloodstone Shard next, there will be trouble. That said, it would also probably be awesome.)

Clearly, bloodstone is nourishment to the seedling. And why not? It’s possessed of potent magic.

Now….. Mordremoth woke up beneath the Maguuma Waste, once a lush jungle. Anyone who hasn’t already figured out where this theory is going has never played Guild Wars Prophecies.

“I am the scythe, the bringer of salvation….”

Who can forget our dear old ‘friend’, Justiciar Hablion? Or where we last saw him?

Over 1300 years ago, King Doric petitioned the gods to restrain the destructive forces of magic they (well, one of them) had unleashed. They used his blood in a mighty ritual that placed limits on magic, and thus formed the Bloodstone Pact. The Bloodstone, itself, was sundered into five pieces, and thrown to the far corners of Tyria. Their power is such that they can actually inhibit the workings of ressurective magic, and they are a place of power perfect for carrying out sacrifices, rituals, or sealing away dimensional rifts.

The tiniest pieces of a Bloodstone, in the form of dust or bricks, can nourish a seedling born from Mordremoth. What can he do with the power of one of the five Bloodstones to feast upon?

P.S. It gets better. His tendrils are searching the ley lines of Tyria, disrupting their power. His reach is far. Could he be looking for the other Stones?

The closest Bloodstone is in what use to be called Bloodstone Fen in Maguuma. so thats not all that surprising, but i think hes going to get ALL the bloodstones.

the other 3 stones would be 1) the Door of Komalie in the ring of fire islands. which we know seals a portal to the realm of torment and the titans within. 2) Bloodstone Caves in Sparkfly Fen, which would be easy enough to get too since its already deep underground(Bloodstone caves from Guild wars 1) and the bloodstone in the Ice Caves of Sorrow in the Southern Shiverpeaks.

So while one of the remaining 3 would be easy enough, i cant see the dragon going after the 2 above ground, especially the one in the Ring of Fire Islands. but its definatly moved to the Maguuma bloodstone.

The Bloodstone in Bloodstone Caves is the “Southern Shiverpeaks” Bloodstone, where Evennia et al. were going to be taken if we didn’t rescue them.

So while there are explicitly stated to be five Bloodstones, we know only the location of three.

And yes, my main point in my original post was that I’m pretty sure it’s gonna claim Bloodstone Fen as its lair.

I don’t think Mawdrey (and its two precursor vines) are really needing Bloodstone pieces to grow, but rather the magic in it.

Look at all the other items you craft to grow the plants. From ley line stones/dust, to chaos magic orbs, Mists stones, even phantasmal dust and destroyer essence. Every single component other than the food is magical – and before feeding the plant the food, you embue it with magic.

Feeding it Bloodstone dust is really just ArenaNet doing two things:

  1. Having us feed dragon minions magic and…
  2. Creating that Bloodstone Dust sink that all the champ farmers have been begging for for months.
Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

He awoke under the Falls, a place that in GW1 was naturally magical. I could see him trying to reach the Maguuma bloodstone though.

I had the same thought He’s going after the bloodstones for the magic inside them, and we were talking about how maybe the Master of Peace has the keystone, to unlock the power.

hmm… I’ll have to run again to confirm XD but i think you’re right. Though it could mean the actual bloodstone could be anywhere near that general area?
