You know what baffles me? When people ignore everything said; argue with their own spin on a subject and always seem to finish with a lecture stemming from that bizarre work-ethic-cult-mentality, that seems to have consumed so many gamers.

Actually no it’s not bizarre at all. You see it’s a discussion of ‘value’. Value is somewhat subjective, but for the most part is measure of utility, the cost (be it monetary or effort wise), and perceived status. I’m sure there’s a couple of e-con guys around here who can provide a better explanation but what it comes down to is that the value of such a item is partly influenced by the effort and time required to achieve it.

ANet pushing its forced group/instanced content has been a major irritation for me since launch – it’s the primary reason I became disillusioned, and spent several months out of the game, last year. I’m actually only hanging around now for the WvW tournament, because I missed the previous couple. If ANet don’t fix this issue by the start of LS2/ part 2, I’m giving up on them completely.

I’m not exactly sure what the issue is. In what way are they pushing content? And what content do you mean?

By “forced group/instanced content”, I’m referring to Dungeons and Fractal-style content. By “pushing”, I’m referring to efforts to channel players into those locations by connecting them to other content (such as the arbitrary inclusion of a token item from the Fractals vendor, in the current LS scavenger hunt).

To me, Dungeons and Fractals are as distinct from Open World or Story content as WvW & PvP. It’s fine for them all to have their unique rewards, but this cross-over nonsense is irritating in the extreme (and yes, I am aware they’ve done it before).

Some of you can pretend otherwise, but this isn’t like Legendary crafting – ANet clearly intended for everyone to pursue Mawdrey, or they wouldn’t have spent this last half-season throwing components at us, in lieu of any other meaningful reward.

I was just going to read this topic without posting but then this happened.

You bought an MMO, or Massive MULTI-PLAYER online game. This isn’t like a single player co-op game, you should be fully aware that you may be required to group with players at a moments notice for any piece of content, even if the previous step wasn’t a group thing. Additionally it is acceptable that any reward may be gated behind a piece of group content.

On the whole “problem” , the reward you want is available either complete the tasks for it or don’t. Your like or dislike for the content involved and perceived difficulty or ease of acquisition are irrelevant there is a path to the item take it. That the item does something unique is not unfair it adds verity to items other than looks and should be encouraged. Besides it is more than likely that further similar items will be added for the other two also.

Not being able to get some stuff because of not playing a certain aspect of the game, that’s what this game has been like since launch. It seems a bit out of touch to complain about a single example of that 2 years in. There are a great many things I’ll never have because of that. I’m not complaining.

Lol this doesn’t really make sense, everyone has access to every aspect of the game, if it requires a part of it then go for it, or don’t craft. I wanted a legendary, so I took part even in WvW map completion (quite difficult if you ask me), and here I am, holding a Bifrost.

I’ve never posted on the forums when it pertains to players voicing a negative option that I don’t agree with because everyone is entitled to their own option. But now I feel like I have to say it baffles me at how much people complain about free content and how they want everything for little to no effort. It’s very strange to me, I must say. Yes, I’m currently grinding through the process to get the back item Ascended, and it can be frustrating at times, but what in life isn’t truly enjoyable without a lot of hard work that you can be proud of putting yourself through?

On the subject of “little to no effort” vs “hard work” – my opinion is that it’s perfectly fine to desire content that takes time to complete, but nobody should be advocating doing things they absolutely do not enjoy, in a game!

Please forgive the snark at the beginning, but this issue and the predictable “you want everything for nothing” type responses, just makes me very angry.

After reading your response I can see where you are coming from, and I didn’t mean to offend anyone at all. It’s just the way I look at it. I never said I LIKED doing it though haha… No, no, it’s actually quite a boring grind. It just feels more rewarding working for it is all.

How is this unfair?

Do stuff get stuff.

Do more stuff get better stuff.

would you want mawdrey to become as rare as bloodstone dust or would you wrather have something in a sense prestigeous with some value?

I will always pick the latter because i simply dont want all the rare cool loot be instantly obtainable for everyone i want them to write a story on how they got itt just like i will eventually do…

Also i see no rush to obtain mawdrey, simply because i unlocked everything for it and the piles arent going anywhere either.

If your mad about that rare a day, welp… there are better ways to get cash..

I seriously dont see the problem here at all..

I rather have Mawdrey be as common as Bloodstone dust.

Prestige is overrated.

4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant

250 Bloodstone dust = 5 champ bags with the same crappy RNG you’ve always had. Only 5 champ bags a day for ..btw opening champ bags which is where most of the bloodstone dust comes from.
Yeah they drop exotics, as rarely as any champ bag does.
But to be honest, 5 champ bags you can easily farm in like less than 5 minutes in Frostgorge, is not a big deal.
