I was playing it for about 20 mins and tbh can’t hold it much longer. I think the map is just brilliant. The events, the whole idea to bring WvW mechanics there, the dynamics, the fights themselves (the one inside Indigo Cave is super fun), the Donate to our Cause thingy — such a neat idea. And in terms of visuals and audio the map is stunning. Landscape is beautiful and small, often hilarious, conversations all over the place at starting camp — top notch work, including voice acting. Man, i haven’t enjoyed this game so much since, probably, beta. I don’t know about story and all yet, but that map is just yeah baby!

PS. It also helps a great deal that i haven’t encountered zergs of 11323434 ppl yet, which is weird. Perhaps they lowered pop cap, or just people spread across the map so evenly now because of the mechanics.

Maguuma Wastes looks like a massive canyon in both of it’s zones….

Quite different from the Crystal Desert in the first Guild Wars.

Crystal Desert was never in Maguuma, you’re on the wrong side of the map. And yes, the old maguuma wastes were also canyon-like (we were usually just traversing the upper portions of it) and it was much more heavily vegetated in the areas we are in now. Go back and run around the areas of dry top and ventari’s refuge and you will see what I mean. Don’t get me wrong they completely reworked the finer details of the maps and added terrain that wasn’t there before, but there’s still plenty that remains if you look hard enough.

I am well aware that the Crystal Desert is not in Maguuma I was merely comparing the 2 as deserts.

As I have mentioned both are unique deserts and as such I would love to see the Crystal Desert in Guild Wars 2 and see what it looks like and what maginificance it holds!

The old version of Maguuma Wastes(which reminds me of the Badlands of WoW) seems quite different from the Guild Wars 2 Maguuma Wastes(less orange and more sand).

agree with you here OP. only problem i have with the map is the lack of waypoints since if you die at blue or amber you got to literally run across the entire map to get back.

other then that everything else is excellent, wish orr was like this.

I wonder if you’ll be able to build another WP somewhere if you reach higher defense tiers, like at 4th maybe. That’s, more or less, how it works in WvW. Overall, i haven’t found it to be big of an issue for me so far, i see people usually rez each other, ofcourse sometimes if it’s too hot you have to leave people to die. Also map is not big, so it won’t take you long to get back, except that considering how packed it with action, you’ll prolly get sucked into something along the way anyway.

I 100% agree, i wish Orr was like that, it really gives you the feeling of full scale war happening.

PS. I also really like the design of the new mobs. Those little beasts, menders, are funny and creepy as hell.

As for old Maguuma Wastes in GW1, yes it looked somewhat different, especially in terms of colors. But considering how well Dry Top and Silverwastes done, the quality of art work there, i really can’t complain, Maguuma never looked that good, that was one area in GW1 which i never really liked, with few exceptions. But here, those maps are gorgeous.

Very good map design. I especially like how it constantly keeps you on your toes. The stream of enemies just never dies down.

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

I like the map, much better than single canyon run of Dry top (second part). I just had a secret wish that it would be bigger. It’s again another small map and overfilled with mobs and events.
Yes I know it’s warzone, but they could have done it with bigger map too and then the forts would not have been so ridiculously close to each others.

All the added maps have been small so far and Dry Top is not even connected to Silverwastes.
After four hours I had done the story and checked the whole map (skillpoints and vistas, not all achievements). Oh well, nothing to do but grins the achievements now and wait for this to continue.

In this case I like the cramped space, as it leads to a lack of safe spots and dead areas. Which really brings the feeling of constant fighting along better and it helps us by allowing us to go to other keeps as needed.

Less zergs huh, hmmmmm…..Perhaps the less wp’s have something to do with that? After all if someone says "event at x come now* it’s not like everyone can wp 2 seconds away from it in this map. Thumbs up – my vote for less wp’s!

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

At first, I thought only one waypoint is inconvenient. But now I feel its a good thing. Dying means something there. Don’t die.

Also. “out there in the wilderness”, away from the base camp, people have to work together and help each other. Which means rezzing other players.

The lack of waypoints supports the atmosphere of the map. I like it.

Greetings.

They also added alot of background noise in the base that makes it feel like stuff is actually going on, all the npc’s walking about etc. You can also talk to quite alot of them, even if it’s just small talk. I feel like they have been one-upping themselves compared to the older episodes. Even the difference between Dry Top, which is a cool zone in itself shows they have learned.

I adore this update. The story is excellent and full of great lore. And then that map, just magnificent. I love WvW and PvE so this is just spot on for me. I really hope they rework Orr to be like this, to feel like all out war. Maybe even the Harathi Hinterlands or so. The events tehre aren’t bad but sth like this would rly instigate me to going back there.

I have heard that is exactly how it works, but you can only build them after having control of the entire map(lvl 4 is it?).

Otherwise, moving along quite nicely…will be interesting to see where we go from here, and don’t be surprised if at some point in the future there is a connection between Silverwastes and Dry Top. That little area at the top of Dry Top with the small area filled with vines and Mordrem backs up directly to Silverwastes. it’s just choked up with the large vines now…but I can see that becoming some event in the future, a la the entrance to Dry Top from Brisban Wildlands.

Anet missed a golden opportunity for a star wars reference.

When you jump into that pit to kill the plant boss the pit really looks like sarlacc from episode 6. To that effect they could have put a skeleton in there that was labeled “bounty hunter” or an oddly familiar helmet in the corner.

After playing it for a bit, i don’t think you can build another WP even at tier 4 etc. But again, i didn’t find it to be any kind of an issue for me, so far. Might be quiet opposite, some of the arguments made for having only one WP i find quiet valid. Like, this might be partially why there are no zergs of 433435 ppl and it adds additional incentive to not die and rez ppl.

What i find annoying is that sometimes you die for no reason after jumping into the breach. I hope it’s a bug and i hope it will be fixed.

I’m only concerned that a couple of months down the line (after the holiday months) when I can actually dedicate a good amount of time to completing this content, that people will still be playing this map.

Yes boba fett does escape in the extended universe however since disney has bought lucas film and all rights, in regards to the books we were told to ignore said content as non canon
