[Spoilers] Human gods?
There is A LOT of evidence that humans existed on the “planet” before the gods arrived.

Well, I guess I’m a bit rusty on my pre-GW1 lore, but if they aren’t the creators of the humans, then why would they have the same form? As long as we’re talking hypotheticals, I suppose they could be shapeshifting beings that took on the appearance of humans.
Anyway, it just struck me as odd that he wouldn’t say they were gods.
We actually know a lot about the human gods: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Six_Human_Gods
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Gods_of_Tyria
The gods were originally from the mists, travelled to Tyria and created humanity and started shaping the world until Abaddon gifted all beings on Tyria with magic and all hell broke loose, King Doric begged the gods to limit the magic in the world and the gods did so then retreated back into the mists and stopped interfering in the world since there was now infighting between the gods due to the whole event.
Also, to clarify Ogdens point – Spoilerthe human gods created humanity and became their gods, but they didn't create the other races so they don't view them as "gods" but as powerful beings.

Yes, but it’s very interesting to hear coming from the only remaining Dwarf, and someone so well studied in ancient matters. I think it is probably an accurate assessment of the nature of the human gods, that they are really just powerful beings.
The human gods are born and are also extremely flawed. They are heavily implied to be a very powerful race more than anything else.
He’s avoiding calling them Gods because the Humans are the only ones who consider them to be gods. Also because Arenanet is trying to distance themselves from the original lore of GW1.

This is well-known. I’m talking about why the humans are the only ones who consider them gods. Also, there’s no reason he couldn’t refer to them as “gods” anyway, regardless of how he views them, since he was talking about them as the human gods.
Anyway I think the discussion has run its course.
Well, he’s not the only remaining Dwarf, there’s quite a few left.SpoilerUnderground fighting an army of Destroyers
Well, any “god” could be just considered a powerful being, they’re generally only called “gods” by their worshippers.
Considering most Dwarves follow a different religious belief system and only a few have ever been known to worship the human gods, it would be considered rare for any Dwarves, even Ogden to use the term “god”.
You also have to take Ogdens back ground into consideration. He was a Dwarf healer, who worked with Asura. Also in GW1 he showed that he didn’t know much about people from the south. I.e. Humans. He seemed to spend most of his time in the far north. If I remember correctly, he haddednt been to Droknar’s forge in a long time.

Because the human gods specifically aided the humans and not the other races of Tyria. No Norn, Asura, Charr, or Sylvari has ever met the gods (to our knowledge) and so they have no reason to think of them as such. That’s pretty well established at this point. The Sylvari are too new to the world to have any experience of the gods, the Charr hate the gods for aiding the humans and also they’re very wary of ‘god’ beings because the flame legion oppressed them and said that the Titans were gods (which they weren’t), the Norn believe in the spirits of the wild, and the asura believe in the eternal alchemy. So the humans are the only ones who think of them as gods because they have a history of doing so and direct interactions with the gods.
From the wiki: “the Six Gods arrived on the world [Tyria] and brought the humans with them.”
This, along with the origins of Grenth and Kormir would imply that it is possible that the “gods” didn’t create humans but rather are humans that through some means ascended to a god-like status of power and consciousness.
