This season is gonna be horrible (SPOILERS)
To be fair, Trahearne could be redeemed if he gave me back Caladbold. Now that he’s done his Wyld Hunt, it should go back to its proper owner who fought for it in a contest.

Can’t get it back, it was planted in the Artesian Waters to cleanse them and make it possible to then cleanse Orr over time. Its power is shot, and so it’s done.
NEVER LEAVE A WRONG TO RIPEN INTO EVIL! KILL TRAHEARNE!
Well said. I’m getting less likely to follow this Season with the poor quality of the content design so far, but if they actually let us carve up Mr. Look-at-how-awesome-I-am, I might slough through it.
I am skeptical about the voice acting criticisms of Trahearne. His voice actor, Matthew Brehner, is actually fairly established and has been in a fair few things where his performance was significantly better. What is likely is that he was given inadequate voice direction. He can’t act his lines as though he is in a battlefield if he was never told the context.
I hope they haven’t changed his voice actor (his voice and accent are actually quite distinctive, and Trahearne is one of the actual British voice actors the sylvari have, which is great – American actors doing fake British accents tends to end unconvincingly), I just hope they have put more effort and thought into voice-directing him.
Trahearne is pretty much the only person in the story with a real connection to the Tengu, so killing him off could stall them joining the playable races, from a lore standpoint.
Also, Trahearne lost his cool 2handed sword. He needs a new one. Belinda has no need for her 2handed sword, could Trahearne show up after having pilfered Belinda’s funeral? Causing us to choose between him and DE 2.0?
Who would you choose? Personally, I’d back Trahearne.
Themain thing I see is that trahernes destiny was to clense orr, that’s done, so I was expecting him to befading from center stage, going back to his studies of orr and overseing the cleanup there. Getting him back into things again now seems rather too much like a cameo for me.

He’ll die and the Firstborn who’s Wyld Hunt is to take down Mordremoth will take his place as leader of the Pact.
There must always be, a Sylvari…

. . . being experimented on hideously and without restraint by the Inquest.
Sorry, I had to finish that thought for you.

I suppose so, but it also opens up a way to clear an issue – if Trahearne’s destiny is done and he has no more purpose on Tyria or leading the Pact . . . he at least needs to surface so he can hand over the leadership to someone responsible, intelligent, and capable of making the mature decisions required.
. . . yes, I mean Taimi.
(Though honestly, I expect him to hand it to Canach.)
I’m happy to see Trahearn back. The way the letter was written actually made me excited for what was to come.
Not to mention he wasn’t that bad in the first place. People made him into a huge scapegoat for their problems with the PS, and many people just hate on him because they hear other people hate on him.And no matter how bad he was, it would be far wrose if they didn’t include him. Kill him off? forget him? How utterly lame and boring would that be. Like it or not, he’s a significant figure in Tyria, to brush him aside and never mention him in the story would be leaving a significant hole.
Much better to bring him back and simply improve his character and the writing surrounding him.
100% agree. Trahearne had his faults, but as a character he had a lot less than people pretend he did. The personal story had a lot of flaws, and for some stupid reason Trahearne has become the embodiment of all of them.
Darkhaven Commander
Co-leader of [Sold]
Oh I can’t wait to be called commander again. I’m downright thrilled! I highly dislike being called “boss”. Boss of what? Whay am I the boss now? Noone asked me to be the boss. I’m way more delighted with being called commander than boss.
It’s the unnamed hero problem. Never called our names because XXX420_noscope_bbqXXX would be too hard to include in voice acting.
My only problem with Trahearne’s voice acting is that Trahearne’s character does not look like he should have a voice that deep. Voices should match the physical description of the character. Trahearne looks like a scholar (which he is), yet he sounds like a grizzled warrior.
Between having the story be bound to time-gated group events and the bugs forcing me to change flows constantly to get them, dealing with Trehearne again is just fine, thank you. Besides, it makes sense given the situation.
Amen, amen, amen. :-) Been stuck right in the beginning of the story (Iron Marches) and couldn’t progress since then. :-( This is absolutely ridiculous, compared to the fantastic story / open world feeling during ‘Gates of Maguuma’ and ‘Entaglement’.
Besides, love Trahearne as a character (seriously). :-) Welcome back to the madhouse, Marshal! :-D
Tank Girl: Booga, that was very smart.

Trahearne back in the story? “This won’t end well.”
I don’t mind the Lettucehead though, he’s like Kirito of GW2.
But … Kirito is a pain in the backfort. Just like the rest of the characters of his anime.
… We’re talking about the same Kirito, aren’t we?
If you think Anet hasn’t seen our feedback on the forums regarding Trahearne you need to stop living in your little bubble thinking we will see the same Trahearne as in PS.
Trahearne was not as bad as what people say he is beyond having bad voice acting.
He is at least a decent level character but only reason I found people keep saying Trahearne stole the show was because they may have not bothered to talk to the NPCs during those waiting moments before starting the attack missions. When I talked to the NPCs in Arc 3 of Personal Story (Zhaitan Arc) I’ve seen plenty of dialogue from the NPCs saying that “The Commander” was the figure that keeps the Pact together while Trahearne was the military leader figure that organizes the Pact through Military strategy. Only issue with Arc 3 was that they didn’t show this dialogue in Voice dialogues but only exclusive to Text chat dialogue most players would easily skip or miss due to rushing through the Personal Story.
Our character has served more as the Hero Figure of the Pact boosting Moral on the battlefield. We’re more like the Elite Unit Commander rather than a Military Commander due to getting into missions that would normally be considered suicidal. However, Military Leader Role wise we don’t fit into any catagory except only leading a small unit of people.
Trahearne, however, has more career and experience wise being through political experience and connections (Getting involved with races like the Tengu and other outside races), military strategies (From fighting along side each Order before GW2 timeframe), and basic Desk Job work (which Trahearne often have now with constant paper work invovling Pact organization, supply needs, base operations, and etc at a daily base which is something our character wouldn’t be very good at due to our reputation for being Adventurers rather than Desk Job workers.)

we all knew this was gonna happen since the fort salma attack, but i dont really see this as something bad and i doubt treharne will play a leading role, right now it is all about DE 2.0 and us
Attention, ArenaNet: Please give this team a real name, so people stop calling it Destiny’s Edge 2.0. Destiny’s Edge was an admixture of the individual group names “Edge of Steel” and “Dragonspawn’s Destiny”, and is specifically the team name for THOSE people. This group is not piggybacking off their achievements, even though most of them have connections to existing members. No, these people have forged their own path, with us at the helm, and have their own group identity.
Anyway. Trahearne.
As I said in another thread, Trahearne is the Marshal of the Pact, a position which gives him political clout. He also understands the threat of the Elder Dragons better than most, and, as a Sylvari Firstborn, may know things about Mordremoth (recall that the AotPT’s guard clearly recognized the name when she mentioned it and then sent him out).
As others have said, I do NOT see him in a leadership role, here. Indeed, even in Orr, WE led the military charges, every time. He was present, either because his knowledge was needed, or for troop morale (he is the Marshal), but he deferred military command to us. And, when he finished his job at the Source of Orr, he gave us the army to finish OUR job – he just stayed there, recast the ritual once Zhaitan died (so it would work that time), and then gave us our hero’s welcome at Fort Trinity.
His counsel is going to be valuable. His rank, and the Pacts previous successes, mean that counsel will be listened to. But we are still the Pact Commander, and I’m sure we will be in charge of the operation. I would like Trahearne to return to Orr and oversee the fruits of his labors; one ritual will not fix the country – just MAKE it fixable. It will take decades of toil to actually bring back what Orr should be.
