The episode dragon reach part 1. Is very short.

- too short
- no new area
- buggy events
- boring

It’s took anet 2 weeks to implement a new back piece
And a few story quests.

Very disappointed.
Very slacking.

I don’t know about you, but it took me 4 hours to finish this episode. Plus another hour or two crafting the back piece. While it’s buggy, I like the new dynamic events. I was entertained throughout the entire episode. It’s pretty enjoyable, I also got to see old characters.

They touched on Rytlock and removing the curse.
But again nothing followed through in that front.

I’m gonna call it now Rytlock will somehow come back with some information that will save the day and kills mordemoth.

The open world events were buggy and more like fetch quests, but I like how they brought Eir and Rytlock into it, and touched on the searing and the ghosts. That was great! They really needed to get those characters involved again and revisit some of the old lore. I love the concept of Rytlock wanting to put the ghosts to rest and all that comes after. I tried so hard to jump in that kitten hole with him!

At any rate, it was all setup for the finale.

The instanced parts were good but short. Open world content felt like an artificial solution to make the episode longer.

Previous episodes I completed on multiple characters, in this one there is just too much filler content… I won’t play through it again.

This is turning out to be a typical meta complaint thread where OP whines about something, then gets all upset as soon as someone doesn’t agree with his view.

If you’re going to complain at least elaborate on your points a bit, just going “BAAAAAAAWWWW IT’S SO BOOOOORIIING” doesn’t make good discussion material. Lashing out at anyone who doesn’t share your opinion doesn’t help either, it just shows insecurity.

I for one really liked the ending, it was completly unexpected. We don’t even know for sure where he went, it could be Underworld which suggests that we might see it one day as a playable area.

How was it short? It took me significantly longer than the other episodes. It had much more variety. Good champ trains in Frostgorge, significant character interactions with major NPCs, good dialogue (the bits with taimi) and good use of different parts of the world in building the backpiece.
I only just started and had to revisit old jumping puzzles I haven’t done for almost 2 years and other places I had completely forgot about.

Also, there was a significant amount of new NPC dialogue with minor characters to highlight the new events. Updating the old maps is as significant as making new ones.

Each episode can’t have a plot twist or cliffhanger, or they would lose impact and shock factor on the player.

This is part 1. Some of the design of the open-world events could be improved, but the story is definitely intriguing. None of us predicted we’d revisit the story of Ascalon. Who knows what will happen to Rytlock in the Mists?

I’m waiting for part 2 to see if any of these questions will get answered.

The only problem I really have with this episode is the open world events. That’s it, and only because you could be there for the event, yet not do enough damage to get credit (due to zerg mania) and have to do it again. We should be escaping from Zergs Anet, not enforcing them.

Don’t need another one. Unless this is going to be legendary. Then that’s diffrent. So far there’s been nothing reward wise I’ve liked. Sucks to be me I guess.

Minor glitches.. really.. REALLY!!

I am normally pretty understanding when it comes to many of the bugs in GW2 or any MMO for that matter.. but these are not minor glitches they are huge holes that stop progress of actually completing the episode.. worse these “minor glitches” have caused a cascade of other minor glitches all over the game with normal Openworld events , dungeon, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the MF issue is also very much related to these glitches.
Heck many of us haven’t gotten past Frostgorge yet.. god knows what will happen when we do finally finish it and go back and attempt to get the metas done….

Sorry but so far this episode is no more than a 2/10 for effort.. why was it put back to openworld event zerging anyways that’s what I want to know.. I agree with the OP as far as I can tell so far, its nothing more than a padded out collect this, escort that, wade through endless text and zerg a bit.. nothing in anyway challenging or interesting.. but maybe after Frostgorge something will gain my excitement though anything is better than sitting around for hours waiting for a few Dolyaks to shed some inches round their rear to finally be able to make it up the path so we can all get on with this stuff!

I agree, although I would point out that the return to Ascalon and it’s story WAS predicted and discussed at length in the Lore forums. I myself made a prediction, and was only about half right.

In any case. I enjoyed it. I liked the open world events that were trigged by the LS instead of just there. Although the massive zerg took away much of the experience, I think after a bit, and it dies down, I think they could be really fun.

I don’t think it’s too short, per se. I like that it’s a mix of instance and open world (from what I’ve seen so far), and it’s been a lot of fun…when it works.

My only complaint is the buggy part, and not even so much that, bugs happen.

It’s the communication, or lack of communication.

If this was Gazillion, over at Marvel Heroes, there would at least be some sort of notification that something is broken, and to not bother trying until they tell us to try again.

Here? Nothing. Not running updates, not notification that they know something is wrong, no timely updates with progress, no periodic patches, server bounces, anything to help us.

Just…nothing.

I know it’s lunch time, but well, there you go.

For example: Should we all just stop trying Frostgorge? When should be try again? Could you post something and let us know? We at least could be in Dry Top or out logging and doing something useful while you are working on the problem?

Or, maybe ya’ll find this part kinda funny and like watching us try different servers over and over in vain? It sure feels that way.

Other than that, I like what they ‘tried’ to do. It’s fun, when it works.

After the highs of episode 1 and 2, this felt a bit of a let down. It just didn’t hang together too well with some pretty big plot holes.

I don’t mind using DE’s for storytelling, but the cycles were on strange syncs and timers and tagging the story onto old DE’s felt like forcing content to mesh too much.

It wasn’t awful by any means, but a bit of a step backwards in some areas

Well I’m not having too much fun so far, I have over the course of 2 days managed to get to frostgorge.

First night:

Got stopped straight off the bat on the first part of the char area (event was bugged and wouldn’t start). Tried relogging a few different instances, no good. End of the story for me for that day.

Today:

Played most of the day, and by the time I woke up (eu) it had been patched and Yay can actually go into the story part!

Ok so I have started it, but wait, one of the 5 events is wedged already so I can’t do that achievement, but well it seems broken to a point I can at least carry on the story and just skip that bit for now. Again relogged, tried different mega server instances, nothing to get that bit done.

Ok so the story carrys on (seems ok but it’s starting to get hard for me to tell as I have great long gaps where I can’t play the kitten content to find out so I loose any flow to the play through I might have had).

Make it to frostgorge…..

Oh look first event there again is broken, try relogging multiple times through the day and never get a world server instance that has the first event actuallly working and all the npc’s sitting around like muppets, so once again nothing to do.

I am happy if it works for you guys who tell eveyone to stop complaining or you were lucky and it worked for you but for me this patch is a just a simple case of complete quality control failure. It has spoilt the flow of the story for me and enjoyment of playing the content.

It hasn’t been patched in 12 hours flat like someone said, it has been botched to the point of almost working in 12 hours but again still broken.

Do better next time please Anet.

Judging from the way the events seem to me, and the dialogue of the NPCs (eir saying we’ll do it all alone etc.) i think they just gave up on finding a way to split up the zergs for the events, and just decided instead to build the events around the inescapable reality that in 2 to 4 weeks, not nearly as many people will be doing them. They’ll be much more enjoyable if played as intended, without the 100 man zergs.

I loved the boss fight, and Rytlock’s wording had me worried about what could go wrong during this ritual. I wish it had been just a tiny bit more difficult, like maybe a heavy damage-dealing ghost that targets the player.

The open world parts are pretty cool, learned some tidbits about the Mordrem, thought it was funny the mob was being manipulated to help players with their Living Story. Played this episode really hard, more so than the last two.

Super thrilled about completing this new back piece. Instead of roaming Dry Top for saplings, I’ll finish another character’s Personal Story for Foxfire Clusters.

I hope there’s an episode where we’re trapped in some other domain/dimension, I like those in RPGs.
