[SoF] Sorrow’s Furnace
(edited by Lexvia.4087)
I’m trying to build a new desktop specifically for GW2 but also that would be able to run things like Skyrim, Far Cry 3, and shooters. I don’t care about playing on ultra settings, just want less lag/greater fps. My budget isn’t very high (max maybe $700/800).
Do you think the AMD Radeon HD 7770 1GB or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 1GB would be better for Guild Wars?
Also, if anyone has advice on affordable AMD processors, it would be greatly appreciated. I honestly don’t know how many min gigahertz I need, or even if 4, 6, or 8 cores are needed.
Thanks in advance!

You are limiting yourself to AMD processers because?
For gaming processers intel is outperforming amd right now, if your limitation is a replacement processer for your current motherboard than it would do you good to list your socket type.
Anyway here is a handy baseline from toms hardware about their opinion on the best gaming processer for your dollar. AMD owns the dirt cheap end Intel owns the moderate to high end.

Mainly because of price. I am starting from scratch on the desktop (have an old laptop rn that’s garbage). Everytime I try to build using Intel it goes above my budget. Keep in mind I’ve been using cyberpowerpc and ibuypower.
Update: woah. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/guild-wars-2-performance-benchmark,3268-7.html Now I’m wondering if using even AMD FX-6100 3.30 GHz Six-Core would be a ton worse than splurging on Intel® Core™ i5-3570K 3.40 GHz…
sigh.
