Mesmer, guardian, ele, are prob the top 3 most useful classes in WvW
skills and armor is up to you….do you want to be glass cannon, bunker, healer, or a mix of everything? All depends on what you want your role to be.
I’m sort of in his situation… have any particular fan sites become ‘the’ resource for builds, tips, instances, etc?
Fractals… can’t imagine what it will take to find a rank 1 group now… and then folks will expect you to be an alt and already ‘know’ everything… is there a site around that explains such things?
You can add me in game and I’ll help you out with gearing and fractals if you like. I don’t think I’ll be on at until tomorrow though.

I think this outlines my issue. Why should any specific group of classes perform any better than any others in WvW? Some time needs to be spent balancing this out to make the other classes just as relevant/important.
Just my opinion, sorry for hijacking your post.

That would be nice, but i still have to pick a class to play with.
Also i play on the Gandara server so im not sure if you can help.
Only advice I would have is, that whichever profession you end up choosing, to think hard if you want to go with a condition build.
There might be situations where your conditions are not being counted.
Also, ArenaNet doesn’t seem interested in addressing this issue anytime soon.
There’s a thread in our General Discussion forum where gamers are talking about an interview they saw with ArenaNet’s Game Director Collin Johanson:
Interview: http://dragonseason.com/Front/tabid/124/EntryId/212/Lunch-with-Colin-Johanson-Part-III.aspx
Forum: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Comfirmed-Nothing-being-done-re-conditions/first
The part they were upset about was what he said about conditions:
(Question) "There’s a cap on condition stacks of 25. In a scenario where you have two thieves attacking a boss and one of them can achieve a stack of 25 by themselves, the other one essentially becomes useless because they’ve got nothing to stack on. Is anything being done to address that to make them less redundant?
Colin: Currently no. Interesting statistic for you: every condition in the game costs server bandwidth. ‘Cause we have to track how often the condition is running, what the duration of that condition is and what the stack is. So the more stacks we allow them more expensive it gets because we’re tracking every additional stack on there. And so we could, say, you can have infinite stacks. Number one: that becomes really unbalanced. But number two: it’s actually extremely expensive for us, on a performance basis. That’s one of those weird, kind of back-end server issues that can help make game designer decisions regardless of what you want to do with it.

I’m on Blackgate, but instances are on separate servers, and there’s guesting. As far as classes, the ranger can deal some pretty decent damage from a range (as the name suggest), and has a really nice water field. Rangers are pretty squishy though, so you’ll have to be careful in pvp.
Elementalist can dish out a lot of damage at long range with the staff, and has the option of playing a brawler style with X/Dagger.
Thieves have a lot of aoe with shortbow, and some really nice close range support with cluster bomb. Downside is that your range is shorter and cluster bomb’s travel time takes a while at long distances.
Mesmers have a lot of powerful range options and utility options, but they start really slow, so you’ll be in for a slog if you go this route.
Every class has range options, but these are the ones I prefer.

Here’s a good guide on how to do Fractals:
http://dulfy.net/2013/01/07/gw2-fractal-of-the-mists-fotm-guide/
Ok wich professions would be wise to pick with what class? Is there a list for that somewere? And wat are fractals?
Also is engineer a good class to use with rifle or dual pistol ?
Engineer is a fantastic and quite a powerful class when played right but be ready for frustration the profession requires a lot of micromanaging and combo’ing together to get the most out of it and constantly switching between packs/grenades/weapons
