Q:
Character Armory?
Not in my knowledge, perhaps they will do something about this in the future. I’m sure it will arise as soon we get a proper suggestion forum section.
Trying to understand why GW would benefit from this at all….
Its just a gimmick. Time and effort would be best placed elsewhere.

Maybe sPvP and WvW stats would be interesting to have available online.

There are many ‘gimmicks’ in an MMO, being able to view your character online, your gear, character build, general game statictics, achievements, guild stats, pvp stats, WvW stats for me would be a great addition. Perhaps you wouldn’t be interested but I’d argue that many would be. It’s another level of polish in a game that has done a lot of polishing.
Yeah.. The “Guild Wars 2 Armory” will be great.

True, it is not necessary. Neither are many of the neat features that are included in many MMOs. But this would have many benefits I believe you are missing.
The first that comes to mind is that there is currently no inspect feature. So to show someone your gear and stats you must link each item or message it to them in game.
An armory type system would enable players to interact with the game even when they are unable to log into the game
(like at work when they should be working.. *wink )
For external fan or forum sites, the ability to link to your character and say “hey check me out” would be helpful. It can be a strong force in keeping the game’s community active and growing. For example, I post on a forum or send my friend a link to my character with sick armor and weapons and showing them all the cool things my toon has gotten achievements for and now he thinks, “hmm perhaps I should try this game.”
Also, along the lines of the “hey check me out”, an ArenaNet share-able character sheet would enable players to request tips on gearing and skills through a simple link rather than filling out a web app built by an external site that becomes out of date with in-game character progress and game updates.
I really want this and an Android App to go with it.
I don’t think this would benefit GW2 really. Gear at 80 is primarily cosmetic.
Anet has recently said that they were initially going to come out with some sort of official app but it’s been delayed because now they have a much more impressive goal for the app or whatever they’re going to release. So…wait for something cool.

bumping an ancient post, but we REALLY need this.

Shinji, how will you stop it being used as a filter to bar people from dungeons if they don’t “measure up” by the numbers? This would act as an inspect tool and bring a lot of the nastiness that entails.
Also, my tiny paranoid side says it would help hackers target the “rich” accounts.
well, they kinda already do, with AP… Don’t think this will make it worse.
While something like this would be nice, I fail to see how anyone “needs this”.
I’m wondering if part of the reason for it NOT being done is it being used as a “gear-check” that could be used against players trying to join parties. Just saying.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
Given the fact that anet is putting out the expansion, might be a good oportunity. But since, and please corect me im wrong, the first post is from 2 years ago and is talking about them dropping it for a something better….well it sure better be AMAZING if its taking them that long. So far as benifits go, i played wow. Not for long, but i did. One of the best things was the Armoury app. Im not saying “make it the same”. I like mounts too, miss em but so what. They are not needed in this or any other game. Like a thousand armours. U got one, be happy. So to sum up, why add only things u “need”. A bunch of stuff should be added for the fun of it
