I saw I could get a copy of HoT from Amazon for $20, and was thinking it might be fun to start a second account.

I see on the starting account, I have only two character slots. The HoT expansion gives me a 3rd. I seem to recall at launch, we had 5 character slots? Does that sound right?

Is there any sort of package that gets you more character slots out of the gate like we had at release for a new account?

From what I understand: a new, non-free account with the Standard HoT will start with 5 character slots. A new, non-free account with the Deluxe or Ultimate HoT will start with 6 character slots. So, if you’re starting from a Free Account (with the 2 slots available), your character slots will be increased to 5 or 6, depending on which edition you buy.

Back when HoT went up for pre-purchase, existing accounts (ones made before a certain date in early 2015) whose owners pre-purchased any version of the HoT expansion AND applied the HoT serial to their accounts before release got an additional character slot.

If you purchased an account, and you only received 2 or 3 character slots, you might have purchased something other than an authentic Heart of Thorns account.
