Guild Wars 2

this morning i had that email stating my account name was changed and arena hopes it was me. great security there, hope they change it. i spent a couple hours figuring this out but it all paid off in the end.

what you need for this to work:
GW2 account (hacked, thats why ur here)
GW 1 account (needs to be linked to ur GW2 account, ie for all the HoM stuff)
ncsoft master account with ur GW1 account linked to it.

you cannot technically add GW2 to you NC soft master account, however if ur GW2 account is linked to ur GW1 account, any changes made to 1 account will be made to the other.

so after realizing that my GW2 account was hacked, i immediatly tried to login to GW1, failed. i was furious as i have a stack of ecto in ther. thought it was all gone.

then i logged into my ncsoft master account, from there, i was able to see the new account name, and also change the password so i can log into GW1. but u might be asking “how, u cannot change ur GW1 account name” u r sort of correct, i will get to that later

so i tried to login to GW1 with the account name shown on nc soft master acccount and the new password i changed it to, and it worked. and by the god i dont believe in, my account was untouched. lucky me ehh.
but at this point, i couldnt directly change the account name so i was stuck with his account name and my new pasword. but i was still hoping

after some research, i came across someone saying that changing account info on gw 1 or 2 will affect the other if the accounts were linked.

so what i did then was open up the GW2 client, typed in the new account name from GW1 and the password i changed it to, and it worked. again, account untouched, toon was right were i left him.

now that i had access to GW2 again, i used the new login information to login to the GW2 account management on GW2 website and change my account name back to what i wanted it to with a new and improved password.

now, by changing my GW2 account name, it also changes my GW1 account name, so i will now use that to login to GW1 as well.

the account name that was used for my account after being hacked was wefew39@126.com

hopefully this helps someone, and before someone says it, i havent even received any phishing emails for me to even clicked on one.
i do think it was due to me possibly using the same password from a forum website though. i will be much more aware of that from now on.
