Officer of Power Overwhelming[ZERK].
First term Forum PvE Specialist.
Hi, I have 3 questions.
1: what do you think about my guild’s name? I feel like it makes people not want to join.
Dark Templars Order[DTO].
Secondly what are some cool and bad a** names for a guild? (I suck at thinking of names. Lastly if I delete my guild is the name up for grabs?
People normally judge a guild by it’s members and not the name.
Guild names and character names are world wide, so it’s hard to even choose a name. The name doesn’t have to be the most awesome thing you ever heard, it has the have the most awesome people! A guild could be called Rainbow Kittens and have the best people in it.
Advertise your guild as you want. Is it a pve, pvx, or are you focused on making a pure pvp guild? What kind of people are you looking for, ect…
Good luck!
Well then I guess no one likes people from all levels who help people with questions leveling etc.
We do mostly PvE but I’ll tag along in PvP/WvW. We are all talkative and helpful level1-80 allowed. Yes no one ever stays
we have 13members now but people are all inactive atm-and I just switched servers so they are all a different server anyway.
Keep in mind that there are plenty of guilds and that it can be difficult to stand out for those looking for one. Make sure to actively present your guild in the map chat, keeping it short but sweet and highlighting the benefits of joining your guild! Whenever someone joins, make sure to greet them, tell them they can ask you anything and give them enough attention to make them feel appreciated and wanted. Advice your current guildies to do the same.
Whenever you want to do PVP, a dungeon or WvW ask your guildies first! Start discussions and make jokes in guild chat. Help someone out if they ask for it and if you find a cheap dye (that you already have), ask if anyone wants it – people love free stuff. Also make sure to always greet your guildies when you come online and say bye when you leave – it makes your guild feel like a tight-knit community!
All beginning is hard but the worst you can do is quit. Good luck!

I did that all ;( When I hade the Guild Stash I’d put stuff in there I didnt need ie lion chests and low level greens etc. I think its just Blackgate as a whole :/

It’s more that it’s just really hard to start a guild. I think most solid/good guilds with high numbers now are friends from different games that came over. That way they already had a core group that they could build off of. The hardest part is building that core group fresh, especially 3 months after the game has been out.
Good luck!

Yeah it is the hardest part
Does anyone see something wrong with the name I picked though?
Nothing wrong with the name.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the name. I also don’t think the name is a big deal for a guild, people are more likely to join a guild with a name they don’t like than one with a cool name that’s no fun to be part of.
I also think what you really need is something to set it apart and give them an incentive to join. Everyone says their guild is helpful and talkative so that gives them no reason to pick your guild over the hundreds of others out there.
What exactly you pick will depend on what YOU and the other existing members want from the guild. You should tell people about the stuff you normally do together, particularly if you tend to have regular guild activities.
That way you’ll give people a reason to join your guild over the others out there, and you’ll be attracting like-minded people who are more likely to stick around.

I don’t really see anything wrong with the name. Honestly I can’t even tell you the names of the guilds I’m in. All I know are the acronyms…. other than the one I made… for the bank space lol.
Gun to my head, I would say that your name is a serious name. It slightly gives me an impression of somebody taking the game too seriously and/or a strict leader. If you’re really focusing on trying to change names, maybe pick something light-hearted as I think GW2 community just likes to chill.
Since you asked, I would humbly offer two main criticisms of “Dark Templars Order”:
1) It’s kind of generic, nor very memorable, and doesn’t leave an impression.
2) Unless you’re referring to Guardians, no one plays a “dark templar” in GW2 — let alone everyone in your guild. Are you really an order of dark templars?
