OKAY

So here we go. I’d like for someone to explain to me these ideas; however, don’t feel as if you NEED to reply.

Things I’d like to know about Guild Wars 2:

  • What I should do to level up (Level 2 Mesmer ATM)
  • What should I do to make good starting cash.
  • What SHOULD’NT I do while I’m playing (Looks like map completion is tedious…)
  • Is trash talking in PvP and WvWvW illegal?
  • Should I learn crafting professions to level up if I have no money (YET)

I’d really like to know what people do to not get bored of map completion. As I got further into completing a map I felt my heart stopping. And the most important:

  • What I should do NOW to help me get that Twilight sooner
I know saying I want Twilight now is a bit too early, good sweet lord props to whoever designed that.

Thanks in advance

What I should do to level up (Level 2 Mesmer ATM)

I would recommend completing the tasks (marked as hearts on the map). At the same time, complete your personal story quests when you get to the recommended level. If you get tired of the map exploration, crafting and WvW are another way to level. Once you reach level 30, you can start doing dungeons.

What should I do to make good starting cash.

You should be able to earn a decent amount through selling drops and rewards on the trading post. You can also try merchanting if you’re into that.

What SHOULD’NT I do while I’m playing (Looks like map completion is tedious…)

There isn’t any required content in GW2. With the variety of ways to level up, if you find something boring, there’s no need to do it! This is entirely personal preference.

Is trash talking in PvP and WvWvW illegal?

It depends on what you mean by “trash talking.” Makes sure you follow the Rules of

Yes, as you’ll come across plenty of resources on the map when leveling. If you salvage all your items (with salvage kits) and obtain all the gathering materials you come across, you won’t need to spend too much gold on crafting.

1) Just about all activities in PvE generate XP. Exploration, rezing fallen NPCs and players, harvesting materials, crafting and of course bobbing things on the head. Minor hint, critters off the beaten path have bonus XP the longer they’ve been around since they spawned, it’s another benefit from exploring.

2) Buy gathering tools and mine, harvest and chop down mat node on the way from Point A to Point B. Everyone has their own copy of the node so no rush to get there first. Sell the stuff you harvest on the TP. Note you can flush materials to the bank by doing a deposit to collections in the inventory screen, 1st selection IIRC when you right click the gear icon in the upper right. You can pick them up later at a bank (found in the major cities) or a bank outpost (little money bag on map).

Sell what drops that you don’t want/can’t use on the Trading Post (O key from anywhere). Pick up is only available at Trading Pose vendors, little balance scales on the map. Prices tend to be better than NPC. It costs 5% of the price you are trying to sell your item for (not refundable) so you do need a little bit of coin to post an item for sale. You will only get 90% of what you listed the item at (10% tax) when it sells. You ckittene salvage kits to break an item down into base materials that you can sell as well. The TP is all servers in both NA and the EU but not China, they have their own.

3) Do what’s enjoyable to you. Personally I find map completion, as in finding all the way points, points of interest, vistas and skill point challenges a fun goal if I don’t know what to do next. You may end up finding a Dynamic Event, which can be fun. Think flash mob with swords.

While normal DEs are soloable, when starting off Group DEs really need another player or two. Note you don’t have to formally party. Everyone gets the same XP and loot rolls as long as you do some minimal amount of damage.

4) Don’t know about PvP, don’t do it myself. WvW I barely notice the chat beyond my world’s channel. Even though you’ll be set to level 80 in those areas, gear in WvW will still be your PvE gear so real level 80s fully kitted out will be more effective than you against other players.

5) Crafting is a mixed bag here. It can be a costly affair and often you get better drops than what you can craft in terms of weapons and armor. If you spend a lot of time collecting materials, then it might be worth it.

We are heroes. This is what we do!

Levelling up your Mesmer, kill stuff and do the Hearts on your maps. I also ran to new zones and gained the XP of finding new Waypoints.

Good starting cash, you’re level 2, not going to happen yet.

Do your map completion as you go once you get to a decent level as you will need to if you plan on crafting twilight. Once you get to mid 30’s in your level start doing AC Story then explorable. Decent money at that point plus you will need the explorable rewards for Gift of ascalon.

Trash talking is not illegal in wvwv or pvp if kept clean and humorous, if you get vulgar or violate the ToS you wont hav an account left to talk trash with.

Crafting can be cheap and cost very little if done with resources other than bought for gold. Use www.gw2crafts.net Great website.

Since you’re a mesmer, great weapons for you to use would be: Greatsword, Sword/Sword, Staff.

Still, you can check out this leveling guide for more tips for your profession http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1cjmri/new_player_guide_to_leveling_a_mesmer_the
“New player guide to leveling a mesmer the Non-Painful way” – it’s pretty accurate and I think could be useful for you, now or later, once you grasp the mechanics.

Trash talking in WvW is mostly impossible, because players from different servers do not share chat channels, and player names on the opposing sides are hidden. (I think only emotes can get through to non-allied players.) This is by design.

(So don’t hurl around insults in WvW chat, because the only ones who will receive it are your teammates.)

Also, players are not allowed to use the official forums to discuss any (specific) WvW match at all. This is also done to eliminate the possibility for “negative posts”.
