I know this probably isn’t the place for this Topic, but I looked at the WvW threads and it seems more official. Thus, I’ll ask the question here and get some feedback.

During PvP, the killing blow is what grants you the exp and the PvP tokens correct?
Do you get anything for the assist? Does downing the player grant you anything? It seems kinda unfair, especially during the zergs, When I know I downed the player, but I can’t get to them quick enough and some random scrub confirms my kill. Even if the other player doesn’t use the “Killing Blow” and just kills them via skills/spells. Seems kinda unfair that I get no credit for assisting in the players death. Any feedback from players/mods on why this is?

Context is important.

In Guild Wars 2, WvWvW (or WvW) is treated completely separately to PvP, where the latter is referred to Structured PvP (sPvP) or Tournament PvP (tPvP). WvW is treated completely separately from either sPvP or tPvP.

Judging by your first paragraph, I believe the context here refers to WvW.

the killing blow is what grants you the exp and the PvP tokens correct?

Incorrect. You are granted full kill credit – experience points and a chance at loot drop – if you deal sufficient damage to the defeated player within a certain span of time before his/her defeat. “Sufficient” in this case is about 10-20% of the HP of the enemy player, or 1,000 to 2,000 damage. “Span of time” also includes the time during which the enemy player is Downed. Further, if you have dealt no damage to a player but still manage to Finish him/her, you still get kill credit.

Yes, I apologize by adding both types of “PvP” into my statements. I am referring to WvW only. So let me make sure I understand.

1. If I deal sufficient damage to an enemy player, and someone else gets the killing blow, I still earn the reward for killing the player?
2. If I run in and steal the killing blow from a random downed enemy player, I get credit as well?

Both are correct.

There are 4 things that you are missing that decide the drop rate/quality from your WvW kills equation.

1) What level you are. → Rewards are scaled to your level so higher level gets better drops including badges.
2) What level the player killed was. → Killing noobs normally results in junk http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Junk or packages http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Package
3) %damage done to the player from people in your party. → No party=bad loot, I like having a high dps in my party to ensure I get good loot.
4) Weather or not you personally have done enough damage to qualify for a reward. →If you don’t do some minimum amount of damage to the player you don’t qualify for loot.

I personally hardly ever stomp people when running in a zerg. You and your party can do a much higher %damage if you don’t. Also if I don’t have quickness http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Quickness I find the zerg kills him before I have a chance to stomp.

When in WvW beware The Pain Train [Choo] is coming.
