Current server is NA Crystal Desert
Haven’t played in 4 years only played a few months after launch very lightly i only ever had a 44 necro and 52 ranger and a bunch of lower level alts I was probably trying to get a feel for the game and got lost in other games out, and got really into firefall before they ruined it and gradually forgot about gw2. I’ve currently been kitten ing around on my necro, exploring the map but not really knowing wth I’m doing I should really play on my day off with more time.

REGARDLESS I’m lost i’ve got a necro and ranger and don’t know how to play either, i’m basically fresh into core, and havent even considered HOT and POF is right around the Corner.

I did crafting cause i always like crafting my own gear, 400 chef, 300 something jeweler, 170 tailor, 162 leather I can buy gems and powerlevel this crap I’m not too worried about crafting atm ill worry about it later.

Right the stupid questions I’m not gonna ask what class to play cause frankly reading the forums that meta seems to change every month so I think i’ll just try working on getting a few classes to 80 first.

1. I know alot of stuff like gear or costumes dyes etc is account bound/shared, is map exploration also account shared or individual to each character?
2. I’m sitting on 6 sets of 4 birthday presents so i can currently get all characters to 40 should i do that and save some small measure of time for myself?
3. if I bought a set of unbreakable tools is it bound to 1 character or can i swap it through the bank to a different alt?
4. i’ve got 2 or maybe 3 lv 80 boosts should i throw it on one alt just to get the ability to glide i’d think it would make the game easier to traverse?
5. is there anything from the black lion trading company cash shop thing that is a must have, i saw unbreakable tools, and it looked like a banker robot and maybe some kind of remote black lion item. Are they worth getting? And if so what would you suggest?
6. Are dungeons necessary or just a way to make money/get skins?
7.Is there an actual good way of making money leveling up, or just when your 80 with gear?
8. OK I think i’ve ran out of questions for now, but if yall have any tips or tricks ya think would help me get back into the game or some resource sites youd wish to share I’d greatly appreciate it TY for your time.

Map exploration is character-bound.
I would suggest leveling a character from 1 to 80. The level-up process affords you many tutorial tips.
Unlimited Tools are account-bound. You can swap them.
You could use a L80 Boost to unlock Masteries. Beware, the content in HoT is for experienced L80 characters. You must purchase HoT to unlock the Gliding Mastery.
Everyone has their favorites from the Gem Store. I would suggest waiting until you are more familiar with the game, and your personal game needs/preferences.
Dungeons are not necessary.
Dailies provide 2 Gold per day. There are many ways to make Gold; I’m sure many players have their favorites.

The Wiki is a great source for all things Guild Wars 2. (Link above, or accessed in-game by typing /Wiki [topic of choice] in the chat panel.)

Welcome return and good luck.

It is not clear to me whether you have Heart of Thorns expansion or not, but I will assume you don’t.

Profession
Warrior, Elementalist and Guardian will propably be forever meta. However, I am quite sure that “to be meta” you would have to have a HoT. Yet, those 3 will still propably be the best choice for Core builds, if you want to be useful and/ or required in Dungeons, Fractals or Raids.

#1
Map exploration is Sould Bound per each charactet, to allow you obtain as many Gifts of Exploration as you’d need, should you desire to craft multiple Legendary weapons.

#2
Not yet, play around with some Professions and boost only those you enjoy. Later on you can try playing the rest of the Professions and see if they are worth spending your time with boosting, etc.

#3
You can swap it throught the bank to another character.

#4
It will most definitely make the game easier to traverse however by boosting to lvl 80 you won’t unlock Gliding. It will only unlock Mastery system and its abbilites. To Glide you will first have to unlock this abbility through Masteries in HoT maps.
PS: As I said, I am not sure if you do own Heart of Thorns expansion, so out of cation I’ll point out that to be able to Glide you need to buy that Expansion

There is absolutely no Item in Black Lion Trading company Gem Store, that is a Must have in fact all of them are Cosmetic stuff and/ or Quality of Life stuff.
Unbreakable tools are definitely a nice comfort, but in no way requirement, it is just supposed to give you relief from having to seek out vendor every time you run out of those tools, but will not provide any advantage over other players.

#6
They are definitely not necessary, but they are part of the main story. You don’t have to complete them as it is not required for story to progress. You will only miss on some events that happened between that one time you completed a Story instance and the Instanced that followed after, as the Dungeon is supposed to explain what happens in between. You can read their stories on GuildWars 2 Wiki and not having to play them at all.

#7
To be honest I would say that a good way of making money is indeed available only after you reach lvl 80. Before you reach lvl 80 you won’t be able to recieve any valuable items, because nobody spends gold on items they won’t use once they lvl up a bit more.
Yet, completing Dungeons and Map Exploration can give you a nice, but not huge, amount of Gold. Also, do your Daylies, they are quick to complete and will give you guaranteed 2g per day.

Salvage Ligth-armor Masterwork (green) gear.

If you obtain a Rare (yellow) item, check what price does it sell for on Trading post. If the price on the TP is higher than price of one Glob of Ectoplasm, then sell it. If it is lower, I suggest taking the risk and salvaging it as you have a chance to obtain 1-3 Globs of Ectoplasm + crafting materials and sigils/ runes. Only do that with Master’s/ Mystic Salvage Kit. If you happen to have Black Lion Salvage Kit, then use it only for Exotic (orange) armor/ weapons that are not worth selling, there are some Exotic items that have a very low value.

Most important thing to do: Get yourself a Guild! This will speed up your progress by miles, not to mention that thanks to in-game Guild-chat you won’t get bored as fast while leveling, etc. Yet, it is very important to find an active Guild with active Guild-chat. By no means do I suggest that Starting Guilds should not be helped, I only believe that if you are a returning player, then you will need an active enviroment, so you won’t get disappointed by inactivity/silence of fellow Guldies.

I guess thats all from me, but there are plenty of tricks and typs I can’t recall at the moment, so I suggest taking your time and sail through Wiki from time to time or just ask anyone in the game. Gw2 community is 90% a welcoming and hand-lending community, so don’t be afraid to ‘random whisper’ someone =D

Good Luck and especily Have Fun!

Follow the Story of HoT, you will definitely understand everything along the way. Gliding is very fast and easy to unlock. Mastery system works simillar to Level system. First you need to gain enough experience to allowed to spend Mastery points to unlock some abillity, then you need enough Mastery points to unlock it. Mastery points are recieved either for completing Achievements (check your achievement tab), completing Story instances or by completing various challenges throughout all of the HoT maps in a very simillar way as Hero points.

Note that you have to be lvl 80 to access Mastery system and to be able to survive in HoT maps.

3 If you bought one of the early soul bound unbreakable tools, you have to exchange it with a vendor for the modern account bound version.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Molten_Alliance_Mining_Pick

4 As mentioned above, you need HoT to glide. Specifically you need to finish one of the very early story steps then unlock the relevant mastery. But once one character had done that, gliding will be unlocked for all your characters.

6 Since you left, fractals and raids have been added. Dungeons are essentially abandoned content now… they have very few worthwhile rewards. If you want better gear (ascended) you can get them in fractals… or craft them.
