Mob attacks on Lvl 80 in low areas?
Where exactly are you and what Events are active? I’ve seriously never seen an area (outside a scaled up Event) where 10-20 enemies congregate, much less 20-30 swarming to a single player.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
To be honest that sounds pretty kitten cool lol :P
When i did map completion it was pretty boring since i just wrecked everything on my zerker ele, if anet made it so that higher levels would get swarmed in low level areas… It wouldn’t only make exploring low level zones much less of a drag than they were when i explored then, but would also give people reason to move out of Orr (more enemies = more loot!)
Besides, whats cooler than fighting multiple opponents at once while the newbies next to you look at you amazed?
Well, i guess i didn’t really answer the question though. I doubt it would be normal, maybe you were fighting enemies from a group event or something?
Solo roamer, all classes.
I’ve seen threads that say high toughness or using shields will increase aggro. If you are pulling mobs from far away, maybe try adjusting your traits/stop using shield, see if that’s the problem.
Other then that, I don’t recall seeing places where 20 or 30 mobs are that close together. Some site names/events would be useful.

Well there is the new event in Gendarran Fields …

It happened once when I was in the Harathi Hinterlands : Wildspine Hills and again today Lychcroft Mere in Caledon Forrest. I honestly don’t know how to tell if its a scaled up event, but in both cases there was an event going on. Still I didn’t think that as an 80 would could get wiped out like that.
I got wiped by a bazillion bandits in Queensdale a few days ago. They just kept coming.

I don’t use a shield. I’m strictly GS & Axe/Mace. I’m using the Nike Berserker build but I don’t think that’s the issue? Maybe?

That’s exactly what was happening to me!!! In Harathi I was knocked down & pinned until I was dead, by about 20 of them. It was insane!
Well, at least I know I’m not the only one its happening too & its not restricted to 1 area

The only time that many mobs should spawn is for an event.
In wayfarer’s there is a bear event that spawns continuous waves of bears (where the kids play snowball) and they can easily number in the 20+ range and you can wipe there easily.

I wouldn’t think your build is pulling aggro then. It was high toughness builds that was doing that.
It depends if these mobs are already there and you aggro’d them or if they chased you down from a distance. If they are bring pulled from a distance you might try chasing your traits to different trait lines, see if that stops it.
Thank you everyone
You probably got stuck in an event. But your level does not affect aggro.

While this is technically true, there are areas you can encounter in which you will be level capped lower than the mobs in the area – thus causing them to aggro onto the lower level target at increased distances (you).
There’s a spot in Blazeridge that comes to mind – Brandview Waypoint. The area to the northwest, just before the wall often contains a plethora of gold, iron tree and plant nodes. It also oddly caps the player level to 48 – despite the fact that mobs like the hostile wolves are 50.
The area is a graveyard for mindless node farmers who quickly get overwhelmed by high level wolves that spawn even more high level wolves… – I’ve had easily a dozen attacking me at once before.
Additionally: Some events will spawn a wave of mobs some distance away from the actual event – far enough for you to not even be notified that there is an event nearby. If the event is upscaled by a sufficient amount of players, the results are often not pretty for anyone who happens to be in the area.
For the toast!

Also if you dare to explore higher level zones with a lower level character eg: level 30 in a level 80 zone, enemies that would normally aggro on you at 500 range would chase you down from over 1500 range.
