Guild Wars 2

My daughter finally got Guildwars 2 from Santa. Problem is, she wants to play with me, but I play on a full server. I do NOT want her to be alone. (aka why I am sitting here at 6am EST reloading the screen to create a character for her) But I know Tarnished Coast is a full server 99% of the time.

Thing is, I also have made a guild family. Really love these guys and I hate to think I would abandon them, but this is my daughter. I don’t want her at 12 (and a newbie) to MMO’s to get frustrated with the game and quit or need my help and I am a server away.

I know I will probably have to move servers, but unsure which server to go to. She really loves dragons, so thought about Dragonbrand, but unsure about the community. Used to the tight knit community on Tarnished Coast.

So I need help, A) what would you do in my position? What server is a good server that won’t rip apart a new player in case Mama Bear ain’t on =)

I am from the world of Dragonbrand and I’ve come to tell you that we are a community that you’ll love. now enough of the formality. so far i am having no problems with the community. most are friendly and helpful. regarding your problem, why not inform your guild that you will be transferring and ask them if they want to transfer too. you may also want to explain why so that they may understand. after all, family comes first, right?

And I know I am running out of time to decide, because I am sure others got the gift of GW2. =(

It is still possible to move to Tarnished Coast, if you hit it just right. We had a guildie accidentally move to Borlis Pass when trying to help her mom get into the game one week before Wintersday began. Even in the mad crush of people playing the event’s start, she was able to transfer back not long after her cooldown was up.

So I’d suggest starting your daughter on a good server, but checking during low usage hours for the next few days to see if she can be transferred over to TC before you take the step of leaving TC yourself. Heck, today might be a GREAT day to do it while everyone’s off doing XMas!

All that is required is usually to keep trying and you’ll be able to transfer.

I agree with Donari, best is to start on a different server and keep trying to get int Tarnished Coast. Right now World Transfers are free, though it will cost 500-1,800 gems (depending on server population) in the future. I’m not sure when exactly this change to payment for WT is going to happen, but it’s something to keep in mind if you expect trying to get into Tarnished Coast is going to take a while.

We had a similar problem a couple weeks back when some friends got new accounts and tried to join our server (Yak’s Bend). There seems to be a higher rate of transfers on the weekends, particularly Fridays, as people try to transfer to a server that’s winning in WvWvW. If your server is not winning this week, then your daughter may have a better chance to join or transfer in this weekend. That’s what worked for our friends.

Thanks y’all, I was able to get her on my server and guild. I sat for 3 hours and kept restarting the client, until TC became available. Tell ya, that is love right there when you do that on Christmas morning! =) Hope everyone had a safe holiday.

I also play with my daughter though she plays rather seldom these days. I had to move servers to play with her even sometimes. She had to go to another server so she can play with a friend of hers even more rarely. Her friend does not have a gaming computer and can only play when she visits her uncle.

Tarnished Coast had openings two days ago. It is possible to get there. Had I been free to move, I would have seized the opportunity.
