Would it be possible that you could add an alternative means to get this thing? Currently you need to go through the World vs World track, which is doable for most players, even the not so PvP oriented people.

But… when you’re dealing with an internet provider that your neighborhood had SUED twelve fricken times, and instead of fixing the problems that was preventing their contract from reaching the advertised network speed they just changed the wording of it… PvP turns into the most frustrating experience you will ever have. So… while we’re paying for the minimum service package of 4mbs, we’re actually only getting 256kbs download speed at best. With them literally being the only ones out there besides satellite internet… the only way around this problem is to change your physical living location.

Most games, this isn’t too noticable, and can handle it surprisingly well. But Guild Wars 2 for some reason just brings the worst out of this. Frequent disconnects, massive lag spikes in combat, client loosing connection completely and needs to be restart, etc.

While you are waiting for the Devs to change the acquisition method, you can do the easy WvW Dailies that require little to no PvP combat, such as:

Big Spender
Veteran Creature Slayer
Land Claimer
Master of Monuments
Caravan Disrupter
Mists Guard Killer

Good luck.

If you buy the Permanent Portable Provisioner for 1 gold off the spawn-vendor on a map you can even do Big Spender without entering WvW (if e.g. you can’t enter it because of queues or too hard lag) just buy a few consumables, those work really well in PvE as well.

Like Cedo siad you gain Reward track progression by doing dailies. It’s slow but it will get you there.

You can also fulfill the Big Spender Daily in a Guild Hall with the requisite upgrade. (War Room, and the needed NPC.)

Good luck.

There’s several requests for this already, most recently the 4-day old thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-Gift-of-Battle-acquisition/6715969

ANet hasn’t commented much on this other than saying that they have no plans to change the acquisition method. If anything, they seem adamant on requiring WvW to obtain the Gift of Battle (and they’ve never explained why).

John Smith: “you should kill monsters, because killing monsters is awesome.”

It would be nice if the devs allowed the old way to remain, e.g. to simply buy one with badges of honour, and then made the reward track enticing in other ways (beyond what it is already… it gives some mystic clovers and other useful things iirc)

Perhaps make it offer a set number of laurels, or just give a guaranteed 25 of each type of t6 fine crafting material in the final chest.

That way people who WvW a lot and want legendaries can use the track as a good way to progress towards one, while people who don’t or can’t wvw much can use the badges they get from achievements/bare minimum participation to buy one and acquire the rest in pve.

The Tracks do give clovers, and T6 mats, and T5 mats, champ bags, memories of battle (which is WvW exclusive).

But realize the whole point of the reward track is to get people to spend time in WvW, and get that population to do thing. If it bugs you that much, solo towers in Edge of the mist, since no one goes there any more.
