Potential Thesis - Looking at Interest
Your best bet would be to join a large guild wihtout saying anything about this. Get to know the types of people in the guild. Then start asking random people in the guild via PM’s.
Problem with doing what u just done and asking for people to come forward is that u will inevitably get the very loud and expresive people only which dont represent the average playerbase. Not to mention only a very very small portion of the GW2 playerbase use these forums…like in most game forums :P
EVGA GTX 780 Classified w/ EK block | XSPC D5 Photon 270 Res/Pump | NexXxos Monsta 240 Rad
CM Storm Stryker case | Seasonic 1000W PSU | Asux Xonar D2X & Logitech Z5500 Sound system |
Need to start somewhere!
I’d be more interested in being in a guild that knows my intentions than them finding out and somehow being angry about it. That would sort of ruin the study as well.
Either way, just putting out feelers, and definitely grateful for the idea!
The people in Operation: Union are a helpful sort. We’re pretty much just a group of people who got together to have fun playing all aspects of the game, and a guild formed out of it in the end.
I would suggest making a post in our thread here in Players Helping Players or maybe on our website (see my sig for both links). Something like this I’m sure the guild members would like to talk over before giving you a final yes or no, but you can ask (and mention I suggested you do so)!
Thanks a ton Helequin! I’ll be sure to bookmark your guild site.
I actually wrote my Master thesis on digital citizenship (or rather, on the philosophical question of whether such a thing as “digital society” exists), although without any specific focus on MMOs.
If you believe it may help you, you can have a look at my thesis. Feel free to contact me through PM in that case.
@ Jornophelanthas
The PM system is being pretty fickle with me right now, but I am very interested in your thesis! There may be some great stuff there on digital citizenship in general that I could reference. It’s so exciting to hear that someone else has delved into the subject.
@pptkreg:
I just sent you a PM. I do not wish to post any personal contact information on the forum for all to see.
