As the title says, I’m looking at building a new PC and being GW2 my most played game, I’m wondering how well this game fairs with 2 GPUs?

I’d like to hear from someone that is actually running the game with 2 GPUs and knows whats what.

For anyone interested in particular details, I’m considering 2 GTX 960 and then over clock them.
I’ve seen benchmarks on other games, and SLI GTX 960 delivered a better frame rate than single GTX 980, and since I can get those 2 at a lower price, I’m very interested in this option providing GW2 “likes” multi GPU tech.

I run the GTX 970 and was considering going to SLI. But reading the forums about GW2, many have stated that it is more CPU dependent rather than GPU, and would be a waste (if this was the only game you were considering)

Also dependent on your internet connection. If you have a souped up PC, but a potato for a connection, then you’re gonna have a bad time.

I wouldn’t go sli again I don’t think, many games don’t support sli.

You can force sli using nividia inspector, and I have quite old cards now GTX580’s, and I can get 100/120fps in GW2 sometimes, but usually around the 50/60 mark.

Fallout 4 is really good as well, sorta in the 70’s.

But I will probably replace my 580’s with a single 980ti, or whatever the best card is when I get around to it.

No need right now as everything runs just fine.

Jumping puzzles, love them or hate them, I hate them. Thread killer.

Keep in mind that a single, more powerful card is better than two lesser cards in SLI/Crossfire.

- a single GTX 980Ti is cheaper than SLI 970’s.
- a single card will run into less compatibility issues with games that are not optimised for multi-GPU play.
- should your single card not cut it in two years time, you can always get another one and run it in SLI.

On a side note, don’t get a 960. It may be the current “it” value card, but value cards are easily replaced once a new generation comes out. If you truly want your money’s worth, get the single 980.
