Ok so i know probably most of you will say “Omg use trading post” but whats done is done and i need a little bit help. I was scammed for 10g when i wanted to craft my Heavy Berserker’s Gear. The deal was to give him 10g and later a bit more after he gives me the set pieces but that didnt happen i reported him and its been 72 hours so far and there is no result from the GM team with returning my gold and punishing the said scammer. I wrote a ticket as well but no result either. Should i continue reporting him? What should i do to get my gold back or am i basically screwed :/ ?

I’ve been in the same situation, but luckily I didn’t lose that much gold. It was my mistake doing such thing and trusting people i don’t know, so I never reported that guy. From now on, I’m only using trading post to do any sorts of transactions. Too bad there’s no COD system in game.

Feel sorry for you….hope you’ll get your gold back!

I don’t even consider trading/buying via mail at this time.

Does Arenanet do something about scammers?

I’m used to EVE Online where it is definitely player beware.

You’re going to likely need to practice some patience with a response from the GMs. They’re dealing with a ton of customers suffering from issues that weren’t self-induced, as yours was. You’ve submitted the appropriate tickets, etc., so all that’s left to do is wait.

I’m really sorry to hear you lost your gold. But it’s exactly what Debsylvania said, you’ll have to be patient right now.

Based on past experience, ArenaNet can and do take action action against people who scam others by making agreements or offer services and then don’t live up to their end of the bargain.

As a general tip to anyone: If anything like this ever happens, be sure to document everything. Print screen the conversation, note the time and date, and everything you did, etc. Give them as much evidence as you can.

Alright thanks for the responses this gives me some hope ill be able to get the gold back. As for the screenshot i didnt even consider he would scam me at the time, it was really low of him we played all night together, we helped out each other, we showed orichalcum spots to each other and then he offered to get me same gear as his if i pay him and i would end up saving 3-4 g i told him i only have 10g atm and he said alright you can pay me back later and thats how i lost them. It was really disturbing cause he was so friendly whole night.

An ounce of prevention. Anet could waste time righting the wrongdoings facilitated by their design or they could just make a COD option in mail (like in ahem Rift) that would facilitate personal quick and easy untrusted trades without (trying) to force everyone to use the impersonal clunky, slow, fee-based trading post for something that should be simple, straightforward.

So what I’m saying is to submit a suggestion in addition to your ticket.

Any halfway decent scammer (this is true both in life and in a game) will seem like the nicest guy ever before they run off with your money.

At least – correct me if I’m wrong – all characters are linked to the same account – so the scammer can’t hide behind a different character later – right?

Could there also be the possibility that real life has taken this guy away from game for a bit and he’ll do your stuff once he logs back in? If you have his name, you can see if he logs in and out, regardless of alts. Here’s hoping this is the situation.

Well, good luck, Krav, but also “Caveat Emptor” – let the buyer beware. A nuisance, but also a lesson. Games don’t always come with built-in player protection, and it’s easy to be a scumbag over the net. I hope you get your gold back, but you will make it up again. The real irritation; for me it would be; is knowing the toad is running around with that cash to spend and probably trying to scam other people too. Let’s hope they nail him!

Ah you hadn’t mentioned that he blocked you .. only just now here. So you can see him log on but you can’t send him any messages or whispers?

I tend to think the best of folks anyhow, because often there’s a reason for a delay. However, in this case, it sounds specious. Shame about losing the 10g.

COD would just allow a different kind of scam to happen. Op, you have my sympathy…at least you’re not blaming others for that.

I actually feel sorry for the scammer. Think of it a bit.. what kind of low level.. low life (or no life) sad and miserable person he must be..to scam other people for gW2 gold!!!
You have only lost 10g. He has lost (or never had) real life’s qualities
