So I accidentally sold a piece of my gem-shop bought gear...
Anet does not typically refund player error. Sorry

There is a buyback tab for a reason now. If you accidently sell something, you just go to the buyback tab and get it back.

I found the tab but… its empty.
Do I need to find the very vendor I sold to?
Just below the sell tab. It is a circle with an arrow on it.

You MAY need to find the same vendor, but I have never tested. I think if you logged out though you may be kitten’d

I left the vendor before I realised my error, so I guess its gone. The box is empty.
If you log or zone out, you’re in trouble, but if you leave the vendor but come back in the same session you should be OK.

:( Nah, its gone.
Still, I received a very polite response which said that although there are simply no systems in place right now to restore such items, it is being discussed. It isn’t that they dont want to help, there just isnt the ability at the moment.
Cheers for all the helpful replies!
If it is a gem store item you bought with gems, I believe they have a log for those purchases. So all they need to do is give you the item from the gem store again. How they do that is up to them. A code for the gems to buy it again or something like that. I’d trying and get dialog going with a rep in that regard.
You should look for invisible bag.
It prevent item in it from being displayed in your selling list at merchants and prevent them to be sent to storage when you use the deposit all collectible option.
I have a 12 slot locked case but… I bought a better armour piece which I couldn’t transmute since it was lvl80 (no fine stones), and immediately sold all my loot to a vendor. It wasn’t till later I realised my Krytan jacket was gone
What is a ‘rep’ (representative, I guess) and how do I contact one?

Just reply to the email that you received from the support rep you talked to originally asking him if there’s some way to refund you the gems. Let them know what time you bought the gems, what time you bought the item, and when oyu sold it.
If you are not sattisfied by the way support handled your ticket, you can also ask Gaile Gray for help. She is the support Liason and responsable for being the bridge between players, support and dev’s. You can reach here at https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/newpm/Gaile-Gray-6028 . She gets a load of these things and needs to make a selection. So make sure you make it very clear why you want her help but also don’t make it a tl;dr story.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Thanks for that! I’ll give her a concise email
I accidentally did the same thing with my charr’s T3 cultural helm, so, uh…yeah. The buyback tab had stuff in it, but only logs like the last twenty items you sold, so it was gone.
Lesson learned, don’t drink and screw with your alts gear.
Why? Gives needed gear…
Why do you need this gear? To do dungeons… duh.
What I do to keep from doing that is put all the stuff I don’t want to sell in the last bag and then put something I can’t be sold in front of it. Also, don’t be so quick to click and look at each thing before you sell.
Do you have any of the main armor (tailor, leatherworker, armorsmith) done to at least iron/steel/cotton/linnen level??? If so a way to never accidently sell things can be done. They are called invisable boxes/bags. A 12 slot invisable box put into the last box position means that whenever you vend at a in game vendor you never have to worry about vending important things like rares or other armor sets you care to keep since they will never show up at the in game vendors as long as its put into those last 12 slots. Also the recipe is insanly easy since it only requiers one more crafting mat to make that everyone has a excessive amount, Dust.
There have been several other players that have accidentally sold their wanted items but sadly Anet doesn’t refund items. You’ll probably just have to send in a ticket & wait for their response.
