The wiki states:
Wasted if the player teleports to a full map.
Directly teleports the player to a friend anywhere in the PvE environment.

Does this mean if I load into a new map the consumable disappears; but if I am in the same map as him already (on the opposite side), it won’t consume it?

Has anyone used it at all? Got one out of a BL chest and wondering where I should use it. Thanks

It says it’s a consumable. It has only one use. Which means if you use it, it gets destroyed no matter where you are.

A consumable is an item that is removed upon use and triggers an event, hence being consumed.

Ok so I would like an answer from someone that has actually used it. Quoting wiki definition of consumable isn’t the answer. It specifically says “Wasted if the player teleports to a full map”. This insinuates that if you don’t load into a full map it is not consumed. Not all consumables are used up upon their first use either.

Ask yourself why they are called “consumables”.

if you are on the same map, going from one side to the other, it uses (consumes) the item (I have used one).

wasted, to me, implies that the item is still used, but you go nowhere.

It specifically says “Wasted if the player teleports to a full map”. because it’s a warning. It’s going to fail and it will be wasted. It’s not implying that it won’t be consumed at other times also.

Wasted here means, used to no purpose because you don’t teleport to them and it’s used up.

Astral is correct. It is used as a warning. The consumable is used if you double click it, period, no matter what. HOWEVER, if the map is full, it will be used AND you will not be able to get into the map to you friend.

Say you wanted to get into a map in the Silverwastes that’s at 95% as advertised in the LFG tool. Usually those maps are full. If you partied up and tried to use the teleport stone, it would use the stone up but you WOULDN’T be able to get into that map (just as if you clicked “join” from the right click menu and it gives you a “map full” error).

Makes sense now. Ty Astral and notsgman. It should say “Tries to teleport to a full map” and it would be more clear. “Teleports to a full map” suggests that you teleported there and loaded into a “full” map. I understand what it means by full now. Could have been worded better imo. TY

Yeah, well, they miss say things. That’s not the only time. It’s a talent.

I used one. I was in the same map (and instance). It put me where my friend was like 5 seconds earlier. He was running, so I assume there was some loading time discrepancy.

I took the liberty of updating the wiki to now say:

• If the player tries to teleport to a full map, the player will be unable to do so but the item will still be used (effectively wasting the item).

Hopefully that’s a little more clear. :-)

I assume this item will teleport you to a map you’ve never been to before. Might be something to try if they ever give us new continents (like Cantha). It would be interesting to see if you can jump a char from Tyria to a spot deep inside the new area.
