Hi Guys,
I’ve been playing this game for a good amount of time on this now and can say that i personally have not come across a way to do this myself, however on that note i have heard many people discuss that there actually is a way to change the weapon colour, including members from my own guild.
Now normally i would do a quick search and narrow down to just people trying to spread rumours, however someone in my server quite respected me alerted me to the “fact” that it is possible to slightly change the shade of your weapon by using the Mystic forge, I am still quite dubious though and have yet to be a believer of this long coveted technique, so in my hour of need i turn to the forums and ask for your help.
If you know anything about this could you let me know?
Thanks
RedCobra

Weapons cannot be dyed directly.
I haven’t heard of this mystic forge shade changing thing, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was done by combining weapons together and getting a random one that had a slightly different model.
yes that’s a good theory, I will definitely have to experiment with that and report my findings to the forums, would be good to get a response from a dev but I know they’re busy with the SAB
Has Anyone else heard of this Mystic Forge myth im really curious?
Only 8 people are working on SAB out of a team of about 200 total staff. (And I think they’ve finished.)
But the devs rarely answer questions on the forum simply because there’s so many that if they tried to keep up they would never have time to do anything else. (Especially since regular answers would just lead to people demanding a dev answer everything.)
Personally I’ve never heard of a way to dye weapons, or any other way to change the colour. Like JustCurious I suspect what they did was put a weapon or a group of weapons into the Forge and got back one with a similar but slightly different skin. There are a few very similar skins, especially for basic weapons, but they are still different weapons.
This was my thought, maybe they placed regular great swords into the forge and got back a dark steel one xD but thank you for this response, i shall still do a small amount of experimenting but i think that this myth…. is busted
The colour of a weapon can not be changed in any way. There are however certain weaponskins that have the same model but different shading.
A good example would be this one:

versus this one:

The first is a very normal drop, while the second is a dungeon token reward and much more difficult to get.

The other example are the Crucible of Eternity weapons(red) and the Mystic weapons created from Mystic Forge recipes(blue).
