What other MMOs have instruments?
I have only played GW1, GW2 and LOTRO so not a clue. However you are a bit contradicting yourself. First your saying you miss being able to perform music for other people. Then you state that using scripts isn’t fun. Though I agree, there is nobody stopping you to not use scripts. It is your own satisfaction your looking for right??
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
For me, at least, playing from sheet music isn’t the same thing as hitting the “play” button on a stereo. I think it’s that way for a lot of people, or live music wouldn’t still be a thing.
Anyway, I was mainly pointing out that I already knew about LotRO and was looking for other options, if they exist. I don’t currently own a console, so stuff like Guitar Hero is out.
Maybe you should buy a real musical instrument?
If you are talking about just in a game or this game in particular, you do not have to use real money to buy anything in GW2 since you can trade gold for gems and everything costs gems IIRC.
As for Lotro, using scripts was optimal but in no way required, you could free hand the playing, just as you can with the bells in GW2. I imagine you would have to be pretty pro with the bell to make something people would stop and take notice of.
Lord of the Rings Online. You can choose from a variety of instruments – a lute, drums, guitar, etc. As the above poster said, you could free hand play, but also script it (Which is very simple to do, very low learning curve.) and perform.
The roleplaying in LOTRO is on a whole other level, though. I’ve seen guilds dedicated to musical performances- a few players making a band, and doing performances at taverns and in towns. Ah, the memories.
FFXI uses instruments on the Bard job. But the graphics are a bit yesteryear…
