Sea Of Sorrows Commander

Q:
Hi, i’m new to GW2 and have only just discovered ‘the mists’ which is absolutely awesome! But i just wanted to ask (since i have a lvl 30 at the moment) what’s the point of leveling your character if you have access to all the benefits of lvl 80 in the pvp zones?
Is it just for people who want to enjoy the storyline?
Stupid question but yeah…:D

Whats the point of playing if you will end up at level 80 after some time?
To enjoy the rest of the game, to be more formidable in WvWvW, get bragging rights, exploration and such, to do the Dungeons, see the story unfolds, learn more about your character and how to deal with different scenarios. Basically just to do all the stuff that the game lets you.
For what it’s worth, I think that leveling PvE is brilliant. There is little more boring than being invulnerable and able to one-shot kill all the NPCs.
If all you care about is instanced PvP, then there’s no need to level.
For anything else, I’d advise it.
Because it’s fun.
Also, I levelled via pve to 80 before pvp’ing, so I can’t vouch for this firsthand, but it is my understanding that access to traits is dependent on level & the more traits you have, the more powerful you are.
Those who know for sure, please verify or correct me if I’m wrong.
