You say you don’t have an issue with frame rates – what are they? Are you using super sampling? What about that check box for higher character textures?

Lions arch crowded 48 at highest settings, 107 at lowest
Gendaren Fields 80-90 highest settings
Malchors leap 130 low traffic area 70 at temples
Higher character textures is checked.
Best texture filtering checked
depth blur checked
effect LOD checked

Firstly, always take advice on forums with a pinch of salt. Usually people use forums to voice their own concerns or displeasure with something as some sort of cathartic mechanics of coping and very rarely will people actively come on post how great something is. It’s the usual MMO forum trash talk where people who like the game just get on and play while those who feel like something is wrong will come on and complain, so the viewpoints in forums are always lop-sided.

Secondly, how much you will enjoy something depends entirely on what you hope to get out of it. I for example am playing very casually in a very friendly guild and find there’s always something to do for me when I log on. For my needs it suits me perfectly as I simply don’t want a game which ONLY focuses on the endless grind. This game is going that way but that is to try and satisfy those players who grind through content as fast as possible and then complain there is nothing left to do…so they are trying to make that grind for them longer to keep them entertained. I though can log in, run a dungeon, play some WvWvW or play some PvP and be happy that i’ve been able to do things without having spent the same amount of time as others. I don’t get the same rewards but then again I don’t expect to and i’m content in that.

Lastly, your rig looks fine. At peak times in Lions Arch you will always get some lag issues and your fps look fine. Anything above 45fps in a large zerg means your system is coping well

I agree, but I also add that it tells more about the state of MMOs today than about anything else…

I’m not sure how any game can have “rare” equipment that players want and not have ANY grind to obtain them? The Devs have NEVER said grind does not exist, just that is not NEEDED to play all aspects of the game. You don’t NEED full Ascended gear and Legendary weapons to actually play end game areas.

No. They aren’t. They’re playing (and losing) T1 servers. They are not in the first tier.

I think Fort Aspenwood is now in Tier 1 for WvWvW (?) so if you like to be competitive in WvWvW you may want to to stay on your current server.

Fort Aspenwood is T2 who are playing against a couple of T1s this week. Highest they’ve gotten in the rankings is 5th, where they are now.

For $50 I don’t see why there is so much complaining about this game. If you can spend a few months going through the story, leveling a character, interacting with other players, I assume you’re having a good time(why else are you still playing otherwise?). For what you initially put in, this game is a monster of a deal. As far as I remember every rpg, mmo or not, has always included activities that required a grind, whether required for the story or not. Yes, the largest part of the player base has already reached lvl. 80, but that dosnt mean you will level alone, there are plenty of new players, and existing players, who are starting new characters. If you feel lonely don’t be afraid to try typing to someone else playing. I’ve made quite a few friends that way, I notice we’re doing the same mission, ask if they want to party, and we’re off on an adventure. My advice, if you already have it jump back in, embrace the community, don’t be afraid to sound like a newb by asking if people want to party up. Be friendly and most people will be friendly right back. A lot of the people who will speak negatively of this game have already spent well over 100 hours in it, they obviously had fun somewhere along the line, and if they didn’t I have one thing to say, “be productive instead of using your valuable time to play a game you despise.”

FFXIV ARR is a far superior product. I would suggest playing that.

OP, my suggestion (if you are still reading this) is to try GW2 again, since it seems you already have bought the game.
If you like it, great! Enjoy the game! Work towards permanently transferring over to the server your friend is on as others have suggested here.
If it’s not your cup of tea, then nothing lost and I hope you find a game you like.
At the end of the day, the only opinion that matters is your own.

You misunderstood me. What I meant is that the content in both Queen’s Jubilee and Clockwork Chaos were extremely grindy, repetitive and boring, IMO. The only exceptions really being the Gauntlet and the Playhouse.

The last patch, added a lot of grind with Ascended Weapons (however unnecessary they would be). At least we got SAB and it looks like the next patch will be rather un-grindy as well.

It’s quite impossible to get a copy at this time. Maybe when they open digital sales again AND after the initial re-rush dies down. I am inclined to try it out, but I will probably wait until the first “free” month is over and the locusts are gone.

Don’t forget that trolling works both ways. Those that are GW2 is the best game ever fan types who slam those the bring up the games’ short comings and well as those that like the game but chose to explain/expose flaws.

I like WvW, I think the PvE content in the game is puerile, adolescent kitten.
