Hey folks! I posted this on reddit, but thought any non-redditors here might appreciate it. All Xbox360 gamepad controls are listed in the reference document below.

All files needed for Xpadder setup and documentation for controls are also included in the documentation. This is for the last free version of Xpadder, version 5.3. Updates have been made to include nearest target, camera zoom, and mouse turn speed (yes, to those who haven’t tried the previous configuration, this uses analog mouse turning on the right stick).

Also, there are separate configurations included for standard camera up and down look, and an inverted Y-axis one for those who prefer that.

The control scheme is also configured to the best of my ability to implement ground targeting for casters and engineers, though I must admit, it’s a lot easier to use for melee characters. If you can think of an improvement for the ground targeting scheme, feel free to post here or PM me.

Hope you enjoy it!

Edit – Feel free to download a copy of the reference in the format of your choosing via “File” and then “download as.” Please be aware, however, that any later updates to profile file links won’t be updated on your local copy if changes are made at a later date (since the profile needs to be reuploaded and the link changes if I make changes).

Also, here’show to change the mouse turning/emulation speed. I figured I’d post it here so everyone can tweak it to their liking if they want to.

In xpadder click the direction you want to change, then click the wrench, and there will be a mouse emulation speed slider.

I’ve included screenshots below. Be sure to back up the profile file in case anything gets messed up.

Step one: http://i.imgur.com/TfMeM.png

Step two: http://i.imgur.com/vmuCS.png

Step 3: http://i.imgur.com/A7ecP.png

When done, close the windows with the ‘x’ in the corner, there’s no save prompt. Do this for each direction on set 1 and 2, then save the profile once you confirm it’s as you like it.

IMPORTANT! In-game, map your nearest target command to shift+T. I forgot this isn’t mapped by default. Same goes for mapping quick turn to ‘x’.

I recently bought my own xbox 360 controller, and after using my own configuration for a day I tried this, which I’ve been using this week. It is great, thank you! I have modified a few things though; changed the crude dpad movement to TP, Hero, Inventory, and Esc buttons, and added autorun. I do seem to be having issues with using the 3rd set to show all NPC / friendly names. I’m not sure the exact combo of buttons but it seems to get stuck on that profile and won’t go back unless I alt tab out of the game and click on the 1st default set.

Edit: upon futher testing out of game it seems that when in the 3rd set, hitting Alt + Ctrl and then moving the right trigger resets to the 2nd set, instead of the 1st, without a way to get back. Any way to fix this?

I’m assuming you’re the same person who commented on the reddit post. Check set 2, and if dodge is mapped on LB, remove the mapping. This should fix it. That mapping shouldn’t have been there, it was from an earlier configuration and I forgot to remove it before posting the profile.

I don’t know if it will work with a Wii controller. XPadder is designed for Xbox 360 controller emulation. Only works with a 360 controller or a PS3 controller if you use the MotioninJoy drivers to emulate it.

But yes, it’s been confirmed that using a controller is not bannable.

great stuff thanks mate. Gonna check this out tonight.

and also I dont see how this could be bannable as I have friends that use Nagas and they have a tonne of buttons that can be assigned. This is just like that really.

Just a heads up, read the reference document. All the keybindings are in there, and there are two profiles, one for people with standard controls, and another (my own setup) that has inverted camera for people who prefer the inverted Y-Axis (think flight sim controls).

Also, there have been some recent updates that I haven’t had the time to add. I’ve currently got autorun on LB+A on set 3 and map zoom (- and = keys) on LB+back and start. These aren’t set up in the profile, but are easily added.

Lastly, a few options (such as quickturn) are implemented but not mapped by default, they need to be set in your in-game bindings.

I have windows 7, xbox 360 wireless controller, and the microsoft xbox 360 controller adapter that is supposed to allow you to use your controller with games such as guild wars 2. My adapter has sinked correctly with the adapter, but still doesn’t work in guild wars 2. Does anyone know how to fix this?? (I’ve downloaded all the latest drivers etc. but still doesn’t work with guild wars 2)

has anyone here used gamepad companion or controllermate on mac os x 10.8.3 with a ps3 controller and been successful? im really curious about using a controller. im sure im probably one of the few, but, i HATE the keyboard mapping, i just dont have enough hands and fingers to run, pan cam, and attack effectively enough. this is a bit of a change for me, before this all ive really played has been the diablo series.

alternatively, can anyone explain how i see so many people in wvw, pve, pvp running dodging hitting 80 buttons all at roughly the same time with only 10 fingers? and no, im not going to drop rediculous amounts of money on that “one special mouse”.

thanks for reading my help/concern/rant, any and all help is greatly appreciated.

You don’t need a special mouse. Just use the buttons that are reachable to your fingers around WASD. If you’re mouse has any extra buttons, then use them as well and don’t forget that you can use the mousewheel. Need more? Then try Shift plus whatever keys I listed earlier.

my problem is trying to attack and use buttons 1-0 while trying to run/dodge/ pan camera. i see so many people in pve and wvw casting spells, while still moving (and not in a straight line) where as i seem to have to stop moving, press 1-0, try to pan camera to keep eye contact on target, then try to move, and by then its too late, im trapped and dead. its just so uncomfortable

I just told you how to solve your problem. Rebind the skill slots to keys that are closer to your left hand so that you don’t have to left your hand. Hold down the right mouse button to look around and aim at things when fighting and left click to target.

Here’s my key layout for my engineer.
1=1
2=q
3=e
4=r
5=2
healing=g
7=extra mouse button
8=extra mouse button
9=mousewheel
elite=Shift+r

toolbelt skills=z,x,c,v

Other than my two extra mouse buttons for my thumb, there’s nothing special needed to play. You just have to find whatever is comfortable for you.

I’m interested in seeing a video demonstrating gameplay on the controller if anyone has the time to upload one.
