I posted this before right after launch, but thought I’d repost it for newer players who haven’t seen it. Plus I’ve updated and improved it a bit since then.

Xpadder configuration for Guild Wars 2

Hope you guys like it or find it useful. Everything you need is in the doc link. It uses mouse turning with analog sensitivity and even works well for ground targeting. I’ve tested on every class except Necro.

Enjoy, and if you have any questions about the setup feel free to ask!

Do you sometimes have an issue where the analog stick will keep registering movement even when its at rest? Im wondering if this is a problem with xpadder or my controller (using a pc controller). Also how do you approach ground targeting skills?

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I recently got my 360 controller hooked up to my PC and wondered if controlling GW2 with a controller was something that was possible — and it is!
I love this so much and, while I’m only going to be using it when I play casually, it’s still a brilliant experience to play it in this way.
Great job.

How in god’s name do you prefer a Gamepad over Mouse/Keyboard for playing such a game? I mean REALLY?

‘would have/would’ve been’ —> correct
‘would of been’ —> wrong

Easy, I can sit back and relax, not having to crouch over a keyboard.

And no the gamepad is not the fastest way to play, but it’s fine for pve.

Jumping puzzles, love them or hate them, I hate them. Thread killer.

You have to set your dead zone higher. When the sticks get broken in, they sit off-center. So if your dead zone is lower than where they sit, i will register and cause movement. You can set your dead zone in the L3 and R3 settings via the little wrench button. Hope this helps….Also, ground target is a little touchy..but it can be done. If you look at my above image, you will see my configuration. This works pretty well. Activate your ground targeted skills, Then hold left trigger, and use the right stick, it controls only the cursor..also used for navigating the map and other menus/windows. Play with the mouse speeds in the settings to make it move faster or slower to suit your play. Make sure in your GW2 settings you have ground targeting set to normal. Hope this helps also.

Your information may be 100% correct.
I have another idea that may be of help to someone.

I have a Logitech G13 and a xBox 360 wireless receiver / controller.

When I imported the GW2 profile for xpadder the wireless controller wasn’t connected to the receiver so xpadder didn’t list it as a device.
I had the scripts auto associated with xpadder.
So I double clicked them in order to associate them with xpadder.
There was my mistake.
Nothing in those scripts links them to the type of controller.
I don’t know if there is a way to do that.

Any way, it associated the configuration with the thumb stick on the G13.
And that caused the mouse to gently and constantly glide to the bottom left and repeatedly press the 5 key.

It took me a while to figure out that this is what was happening because xpadder doesn’t do a good job of advertizing the name of the selected device.

Hopefully this can be of some help to someone else that runs into a similar issue as myself.

The only way that I could kill xpadder when this was happening (because I couldn’t control the mouse) was to:
ctrl-alt-delete
task manager
arrow down to xpadder
press delete key

I could only associate the configurations with xpadder and the 360 wireless receiver when the receiver was connected to the wireless controller.
Additionally, I had to manually attach the configuration to exact device in xpadder.
Read: Do not double click on the configuration files.

TL;DR:
Make sure the xpadder configuration is associated with the correct device as a G13 can be recognized by xpadder in addition to the 360 wireless receiver/controller.

I realize this is an old topic, but I just recently got xpadder myself. Here is an in depth controller layout I’d like to share for anyone who wants it. This set up I just made (today) is very in depth (and complex), and it uses almost all default key settings. It mainly entails additions of keys not bound by default (and a change or two). The following additions/changes are what I made – after a “DEFAULT” character mapping is assumed:

WALK – X
SWIM DOWN – Z
ABOUT FACE – ’ (single quote right next to enter/return key)
LOG OUT – F6
MAIL DIALOG – CONTROL + SHIFT + M
PVP PANEL – CONTROL + SHIFT + P
AOE LOOT – SHIFT + F
STOW/DRAW WEAPONS – F7

This following set up is meant for an XBOX-360 controller (with PC drivers available from Microsoft). The main config covers movement. There are a total of four (4) hold-key/modifiers (as follows): BUMPERS (while held in combination with other keys) cover UI, and TRIGGERS (while held in combination with other keys) cover FIGHTING/ACTION. Here is a little more specific of a “run-down”:

NORMAL (set1):
LEFT-ANALOG – WSQE (movement) W/ LOCKED RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON
Left-Analog-Button-Click – ABOUT FACE (’)
RIGHT-ANALOG – Mouse Movement
Right-Analog-Button-Click – DODGE (V)
DPAD Up – MAP (M)
DPAD Down – Walk (X)
DPAD Left – Zoom (camera) Out (PGDN)
DPAD Right – Zoom (camera) In (PGUP)
A – Jump (SPACE BAR)[also swim up]
B – Swim/Move Down (Z)
X – Heal (6)

LEFT BUMPER – UI MAIN (set 3)
RIGHT BUMPER – UI ADDITIONAL (set 2)
LEFT TRIGGER – FIGHTING/PLAYER (set 5)
RIGHT TRIGGER – FIGHTING/PET (set 4)

UI MAIN (set 3): [must be holding LEFT BUMPER plus following key]
LEFT-ANALOG – WSQE (movement) W/ LOCKED RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON
RIGHT-ANALOG – Mouse Movement
Right-Analog-Button-Click – STOW/DRAW WEAPONS (F7)
DPAD Up – HERO DIALOG (H)
DPAD Down – MAIL DIALOG (CTRL+SHIFT+M)
DPAD Left – ZOOM MAP OUT (-)
DPAD Right – ZOOM MAP IN (=)
A – GUILD DIALOG (G)
B – CONTACTS DIALOG (Y)
X – WVW (B)
Y – PVP PANEL (CTRL+SHIFT+P)
Back – PARTY DIALOG (P)

RIGHT BUMPER – INFORMATION DIALOG (N)
LEFT TRIGGER – LEFT MOUSE BUTTON
RIGHT TRIGGER – RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON

UI ADDITIONAL (set 2): [must be holding RIGHT BUMPER plus following key]
LEFT-ANALOG – WSQE (movement) W/ LOCKED RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON
RIGHT-ANALOG – Mouse Movement
DPAD Up – ITEM LINK (SHIFT+LEFT CLICK; ENTER)
DPAD Down – /SIT
DPAD Left – /DANCE
DPAD Right – ALT (useful for splitting item stack)

B – PREVIOUS ENEMY (SHIFT+<TAB>)
X – CALL TARGET (CTRL+T)
Y – TAKE/SELECT TARGET (T)
LEFT TRIGGER – LEFT MOUSE BUTTON
RIGHT TRIGGER – RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON

FIGHTING/PLAYER (set 5): [must be holding LEFT TRIGGER plus following key]
LEFT-ANALOG – WSQE (movement) W/ LOCKED RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON
RIGHT-ANALOG – Mouse Movement W/ LOCKED RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON
Right-Analog-Button-Click – ELITE SKILL (0)
DPAD Up – 8
DPAD Down – WEAPON SWAP (`)
DPAD Left – 7
DPAD Right – 9
A – 2
B – 3
X – 4
Y – 5
RIGHT BUMPER – HEAL (6)
RIGHT TRIGGER – 1

FIGHTING/PET (set 4): [must be holding RIGHT TRIGGER plus following key]
LEFT-ANALOG – WSQE (movement) W/ LOCKED RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON
RIGHT-ANALOG – Mouse Movement W/ LOCKED RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON
DPAD Up – PET DIALOG (K)
A – F1
B – F2
X – F3
Y – F4
LEFT BUMPER – F5
LEFT TRIGGER – LEFT MOUSE BUTTON

So there it is! I surely think it looks even more complex “on paper” than it really is. Sure it would take some getting used to, but just about every command I could imagine being desired from a controller is there! There’s even a little “headroom” for further additions/modification, but I figured this would be one heck of a “base” to be able to start from. I will upload the files for Xpadder for this configuration as an attachment, hope you enjoy!

Okay, so the board here won’t let me attach anything other than an image so I’m going to have to link to the configuration files externally
