Guild Wars 2

Besides looking at the sky, is there anyway to tell (in game or out) when the sun rises and sets? I need to make quite a number of nighttime observations, and so far it seems hit or miss.

Is it on the same cycle as Verdant Brink, or are they different?

I use this HoT timer since the VB day/night will be the same as Stitch says. I find the moving bar easier than doing mental time comparisons
