hi. i want to ask some questions which i’ve been thinking about.

1. i’m gonna buy 80 exotic items with gold but how i’m supposed to buy ascended items? they are too expensive at BLTC. i saw ascended items are sold at a vendor at lion’s arch but they cost too many laurels. is there a way to farm laurels cause it is too hard to farm it via daily quests. or can we craft these ascenden items?
2. i entered pvp arena which we enter from mist and i realized we dont need items for it. they are all sold at vendors. so why should we buy ascended items? dont we all use these exotic items which are sold at vendors for free.
3. what are the advantages of dungeons? i’ve never entered a single dungeon so far.
if you answer my questions i will be thanksful.

there are several ways of getting ascended items
1: drop from fractalsdungeons
2: buy them with laurels/guildrecommendations/badges of honor (important: make a good pricecheck, badges and recommendations are often cheaper, but not all kinds are available).
3: some very unique ascended items can be bought/sold on the TP.
4: number 1 and 2 where for trinkets only. Weapons and armor can be crafted by level 500 craftsman. This is pretty expensive, but can be fully grinded.

The items you buy in the mists can only be used in sPvP, as soon as you leave the mists your gear will change to your pve/wvw gear.

Dungeons: They are more challenging team content with a reward thats higher then usual.
some advantages:
- they are more challenging and imo more fun
- An experienced team can do for example ascalonian catacombs in 15 minutes and you get over 1,5 gold (one path per day, soi not repeatable).
-it also rewards dungeon tokens wich can be used to get exotic gear. For example a 2h weapon cost 390 tokens, wich equals 6-7 runs (60 tokens is garanteed but its also a random drop in the dungeon, so prolly 6 runs).
- the drops are generally better in dungeons.

Badges of honour are drops in World versus World, if you enter you end up in your keep where the merchants are. To enter, press ‘B’

Fractals tokens drop in fractals of the mist. You can visit the merchant in the fractals.
Go to the asuraportal in lions arch near the consortium gift shop poi (just north of, and below fort mariner). when entering ignore the message bout a party of five. When in, do not jump in the thingy at the center, but only talk to the Merchants to see what they need/have. Ascended trinkets also drop in fractals of the mist, but the droprate is low, they are not tradable and the stats are random.

1. ascended items are a gold sink and do not offer enough of a stat difference for many players to be interested.
2. yep pvp is an entirely different zone from pve and wvw. everything you could want is sold at a vendor for glory. there never will be ascended in pvp, although certain pve skins might make it to pvp (legendaries).
3. dungeons give tokens for exotic equipment, some gold, 70% xp to next level, and some ascended crafting materials.

Legendary weapons have the same stats as ascended weapons (there is no legendary armor, although some rumours indicate that might be itnroduced at some point).

The only two advantages for a legendary is that they have a shiny skin AND that you can change the stats with a mouseclick (if out of combat).

A legendary takes a lot of time and resources to make. On top of that, one ingredient, the precursor is very very expensive due to the ultra low droprate.

For me, my quest for a legendary is to give myself a goal. I love this game and I love playing it, but the goal of my legendary also gives me a purpose, or a reason.
This also indicates that if I make it that far, I need to find a new goal :P

Legendaries are more of a long term goal for most. The stat difference is pretty small, and most people stick with exotics. You can buy them for gold from the tp but they cost a lot, so most people craft them over time. The one thing you have to buy is a precursor, which can be crafted, but most times its more efficient to just buy it.

FWI, unlike most other popular MMOs, there’s no real need for higher-tier items after Exotic. In comparison, there’s a much larger emphasis on playing well, rather than having better attributes. Ascended provides a small boost to your attributes and are supposed to be a long term goal, for those interested.

Ascended quality items is never needed in any part of the game, except for in Fractals of the Mists (but not for the attributes per say)

The purpose of Legendarys are simply to make your character look awesome, although they are on par with Ascended weapons when it purely comes to attributes. They are a passion project and it takes about ~200 hours to acquire any one of them (that estimated number is a good few months old though)
