Well if you’re defending the point from his backcap then 1v1ing him is important. If you’re 1v1ing him because you want to and aren’t paying attention to capture points, chances are you’re wasting your time.
Yeah Thieves are annoying for a lot of reasons. They have no ability cooldowns, they teleport, stealth, and hit really hard. The dodge spamming ones are also really annoying. They also seem to be the apex predator of the Berserker amulet, killing any other class trying to use it easily except for Meditation Guardian.
That said, just make sure your nodes are under control and if he tries to 1v1 you with a build he can’t kill in seconds then he’s not being useful and you are.
no as long as you can survive the thief is wasting his time trying to decap , and taking away from the mid fight making it a 4vs4 or 4vs3 at mid.
as long as you force him to keep stealthing and not decapping all it does is buy time and rack up more team points (if your team is in control of more caps) if your team is not incontrol of the most cap points , ether abbandon the point for the thief to cap it and then fake out go back then recap , thiefs with those kind of builds only work on back capping, so they tend not to hang around.

Oh, just realize that maybe i posted this in the wrong section.. i mean 1v1 a thief for simple 1v1…not in a pvp match… just 1v1 a friend or something..
Dont chase a thief, but if they assault you on point i dont really see why you shouldnt fight them 1v1.
The only class i would not fight them on is mesmer, but you also have to be careful on warrior because their steal will give them a nice burst on you especially if you switch to lb. From my experience on thief, the classes i don’t mind 1v1ing are Mesmers, Warriors, Necros, other Thieves, and Rangers. The other classes will either take too long or be in advantage of the other person. However even on these classes it doesnt mean you cant win a 1v1, you just have to play better than the thief, anticipate steals and avoid their blinds. The best way to end a fight quickly with a thief, from my experience, is give them an opening that they will be sure to abuse, and then burst them down. Feint with dodges since most thieves will steal after seeing one or two dodges.
Also if the thief SRs drop some aoes on the farther side of SR. People always seems to waste their skills on the side of SR the thief obviously isnt in. Also if you’re running fire sigil you can easily spot them if you hit them in stealth. You can also see infiltrators arrow even when the thief is in stealth so you can tell where they are running to.
Sry again guys, im talking about normal 1v1(in WvW or any hot join server), not 1v1 on a competitive conquest match.
I farm thieves. Get better at fighting them OP?

Wrong forum. Go post WvW stuff in that forum.
Hot join is not a place to determine balance.
I love fighting thieves 1v1 on Power Ranger! They think I’m an easy kill until they realize they might not win their fight.
