Simple as the title says. This is not an unknown issue. All but 2 of my loses in soloQ have been because of 4 vs 5 where we’ve had an instant leaver making it 3 vs 5.

Due to the fact that this has had little feedback about when and how it is being addressed, you have to understand by now that players have reached a point of no confidence in soloQ PvP.

I like you guys A-net, but I also understand this thread needs to be posted over and over again to truly highlight how big of issue this is.

You have your PAX. Esport, free weekend all lined up. Would you buy gw2 for the PvP content if 6 out of 15 matches you played didn’t have a full team?

I hope this issue becomes a top priority.

The only thing which could work would be some severe penalties if you AFK during a match. Like taking away some of your glory, putting a 1h queue ban incrementing with each new offense up to 24h and things like that. People will continue to dont give a kitten until they see a whip over them. Proven rule since centuries.

I’m not saying this isn’t a problem because it is (there should be 0 games starting less then 5v5) but my personal experiences is that it is less then 1 out of 10 games that start out uneven. The vast majority of the ueven matches the game starts 5v5 and if somebody leaves its on the losing side when they start getting landslided.

Leaving in the middle of the game is also an offense. I’ve seen many games where one team takes on a decent lead, then one of them decides to go AFK and the score suddenly flips. Of course leavers in the loosing team are even worse since they basically sign a death sentence for their team when they leave. And it is really so simple. Respect the time and effort of your fellow gamers. If you feel like you may need to go away soon. Dont queue into sPvP.

Interestingly I have also noticed in spvp that regularly I have X amount of people on my side, yet if you check you check the score board there is an additional person who doesn’t show up on your team, is no where in the field to be found, sits on zero points the whole match and at the end of it instantly disappears when the scores get posted. I have noticed this a number of times. This phantom person doesn’t register in match as autobalance never gets in, even when the score gets to 350-56.

I can’t comment what causes this, but it seems at times teams have a phantom player registered, even though that player probably left or went to spectator mode at the starting wait at the beginning of match. It is only in spvp I’ve noticed it, so it is fairly harmless overall. Point being, it is still something that I’ve noticed a number of times.

I have to agree with a-net that sometimes being paired with less experienced players can be frustrating, but overall it does help lift the game. If suffering some unnecessary loses here and there because you have players who are still figuring how what the objectives are to soloQ, then I’m fairly ok with that. We were all newbies at some stage.

But having a match start when it is obvious one team is short stacked is something entirely different. My first match at soloQ I was on a short stacked team, it instantly put me off soloQ. I return now and then and when I have full teams it is enjoyable, but it is only a few matches later and I’m back to short stacked, my leaderboard position falls and I’m back to PvPing with grab tossers instead of the champion slayers/avengers/ransackers that I should be getting paired with. I can imagine it ain’t so fun for the newer players to soloQ to face a champion slayer/champion paragon/avenger bunker guardian in their first few matches either, even if they will learn from it in the end of as what to expect as they get pitted against more experienced players later on.

Think I mentioned it before.
Due to que wait times they should implement an “Accept” feature before-hand when they finally have enough players in Que and kick out everyone who doesn’t click Accept so they aren’t an issue later. Should diminish the problem

We RELALY need a vote kick feature. There are so many players
(and bots) who are simply entering the queue and going afk or actively torlling teams by standing still for the majority of matches. It’s absolutely infuriating.

what really bothers me is when someone jsut stops playing and sits in the spawn. “lost cause lol im going to sit here and just waste time”

just to be able to kick these people and maybe get a replacement would really be nice.

another issue that gets brought up is just how broken the system in general is. being down a person should not make such a dramatic difference.

Or, auto-balance. If a match begins as a 4v5, a 30 second countdown will begin for the 5-man team to choose who to kick, making the match a 4v4. The kicked player will not receive any changes to their rating or match history, and they will simply be returned to the Heart of the Mists.

lol what if its a 5v3, do they get to pick 2 players to kick? IMO, not really a good idea to choose a player to kick.

If 10 people haven’t entered the match during the 30second period I would rather have the game exit out and re-enter queue for everyone.

I’ve been playing spvp for a short while and i’m already frustrated with this. I have counted in the last two days no less than 14 matches where i have been on a team of 4 and about 5 times where the enemy team has had 4.

I googled 4 vs 5 gw and this post came up after having 3 matches in a row of 4 vs 5 sort it out!!

Many other players are fed up of this, most of my guild don’t bother playing for this very reason.

Have you played any other online game?

Other games have more forgiving leaver/afk penalites than GW2.
Other games don’t have constant leaver/afks in matches.

The problem is elsewhere, and easy to fix.
Anet just isn’t doing anything.

in wow you can get few days bann for afking as it is considered botting… if you leave, your spot is filled right away so that is not an issue

in LoL you also can get few days bann from game

if anything punishment in gw2 is too harmless considering it only prevents you from doing ranked but not bann from game itself

Did I say other games didn’t punish players with bans?
Last I checked all I said is that GW2 is less forgiving, meaning, it is quicker to ban and involves much harsher critieria than other games.
There is no report feature taken into account, there is nothing really but ‘were you there at the end of the match’. That makes it easy to unintentionally get banned from the game (server issues, missing a queue pop, internet hickups, exc).

That is unforgiving.
Increasing the punishment or making it faster to punish will make it even more so.
