seriously its like an audience demanding angrily that a musician create better songs, and every time the musician creates something the audience erupts in boos and throws trakitten him, and then demands he go back and do it again, and this is supposed to go on for years cause they paid for a ticket one time.
Maybe the musician should stop making crappy songs then.
maybe the audience should stop demanding the perfect song that will leave them in a state of bliss for all eternity, and perhaps realize that they themselves are not musicians and do not understand how complex the process is, and that the musician can only do so much with the time and resources allotted to him
and i wouldnt expect the musician to be eager to make better music cause all the audience does is trash him no matter what he does
As long as the musician wants to live from his music then yes, he is expected to create something the audience likes.
This is a business. Anet needs players to be happy if they want to keep making a profit out of this game. Whoever thinks the only income Anet made from this game is the initial 60 bucks is just plain ignorant.
see, this is exactly the type of attitude that is the problem, and likely the reason why there’s really no point for anet staff to post in these forums. there is literally no end to the rabid qq from the pvp community and hardly a hint of any gratitude.
you see, the devs were posting in the forums the last few months, warrior and necro got buffed cause they were complaining the most, they got tourneys going, got soloq going, and without flinching the pvp community went straight to whining and flaming over the next set of problems with hardly a second of contentment in between. if i were a dev id say screw you guys, you can eat a condi and 4-second stun sandwich till this game is switched off for all i care
PvE, WvW and PvP all have their problems.
Blaming it on one of these is just no good. Instead we better focus on having a different, way more transparent communication with the developers altogether.
We also require proper splitting at this point to make it satisfying for all of us. If possible, it helps the game a lot to have developers not switching from stuff to stuff and a higher amount of developers dedicated to one type in the game.
Aside this: Keeping the servers up, etc. cost money. We can be glad that PvE-Players pay for stuff in the gem store.
Hi.
Still here, sort of. My family is in town and the fact is, my mother is quite demanding of my time (sorry if you’re reading this mum, I loves you).
The invitational is tomorrow. After that, I’ll be able to spend a bit more time on the forums. Also, I’ll talk to some devs about getting on here. Keep in mind though, any time that they spend posting on the forums takes away from the time that they are implementing. More posting = less features.
Hug it out
I dont want to be rude allie but im going speak my mind here and not reserve my opinion even if it makes me unpopular
becuase all that time spent working and not being on the forums has gotten us more game modes better rewards, balance changes….e-sports
Its time for the spvp players to find a new game to play becuase the simple fact is that you have very little people and resources dedicated to sPvP and it seems like nothing is going to change
now that the hype of Guild Wars 2 is well past gone it’s time for you guys to let go of the PR spins and tell your remaining player base that a competitive scene is just not going to happen becuase your main focus for the game is pve.
hopefully next state of the game the players ask real questions this time like is there going to be any reason for me to stick around and continue to play this game for what I bought it for.
but the real issue here, the bigger picture is that SPVP is not profitable enough for ArenaNet to focus resources or care about it in the first place. I think they should bring that up next state of the game ( how can we make SPVP more profitable for long term)

Whatever makes you happy, mate. Because you can’t tell the difference between good music and crappy music. We know what qualities will break or make a good music. 12 months has passed and the game is still akittens Beta state Looking back into history, there is NONE patch out there they delivered without something broken. I did not talk about demanding, I simply say the more they fix, the more they break the game. Bug here, bug there, bug everywhere, some have been existed since the beta. Also including every patch, there will always be one class raise to OP and one class drop to be unviable.
We will not demanding if Anet can put up a patch that bug-free and make a certain class being OP or unviable. I see not so far
Proud player of : team [uA] – team [TGI]. Australia base, now recruiting.
i dont think pvprs realize how whiney and eternally unsatisfied they really are. i mean how eager would you be to cater to a group of people who nonstop demands changes with angry bitter posts and attacks developers with scathing mean-spirited criticism on a daily basis cause you paid 60 bucks 10 months ago.
You don’t get it. It’s not about the money. Not at all. It’s about broken promises. Go watch the hyped up manifesto video and count how many of the points actually exist in the game. Not only that, but the fact this game was marketed and hyped up as a PvP focused game that is gonna be focusing on E-sports makes me(and many others) very frustrated!
I feel cheated big time when i get into this awesome game with E-sports in mind and we get delivered half of a game, or a beta version of spvp.
You need to understand the anger and disappointment of people after they have been lied to. It makes it worse that this game has great gameplay and lots of potential…all in vain.
Edit: Great post Kline! I agree about everything you said there.

+1
Spread it!
Please make game fun because it will never be an esport. Game without bugs, without condi meta, with obvious animations for all professions.
well yes thats understandable, but thats something to be expected when trying to predict things a year down the road. highfalutin ideas are met with the realities of budget/time/programming restraints and things become impossible to achieve because of the limited resources at hand.
and we got e-sport and it was met with (of course) more massive threads of scathing negative comments, bitter criticism, flaming against devs, scoffing and bashing with hardly a peep of gratitude (and hardly a dollar made in revenue).
so whats the point? anything they do is met with heavy qq no matter what. from an economic view spvp is nothing but a ceaselessly discontented black hole sucking down anet resources which provides absolutely no return for the company except more discontent

Well i don’t know what to tell you. All i can say is first impressions are VERY important and when you make promises, you better back it up from the start or this kind of negative atmosphere is inevitable. If they had launched the game with all the core features the negative remarks would be not so common.
People are so fed up they show their frustration in every chance they get now.

well if youre not willing to understand human nature than you will remain frustrated and see an illusion that they maliciously lied and had their fingers crossed and are laughing at home playing with a wheelbarrel full of cash.
and lemme fix your last statement:
People are ALWAYS fed up, they show their frustration in every chance they get ALWAYS
i don’ t agree to disagree !

I love this statement!!! as if it is a favor they are doing us…
I would prefer if they spent 5h in the forums and 3h programming per day IF that meant they would do less implementations but the little they do is what the community needs based on OUR feedback they THEY collect themselves by talking to us.
As is, they implement whatever THEY feel like, regardless of what the community needs…

Volrath have you read these forums? 85% of the posts here are toxic and terrible. If I were a dev, I wouldn’t want to spend time here either.

That’s the job of the Community Team; read between the lines and find the underlying problem for the PvP community. There have been quiet a few civil discussions on these forums.
I think ANet has it backwards. In my opinion – with all due respect – Allie needs help so when she can’t get on the forums someone else is here. That way more of the proper threads are read and the devs can do what they are paid to do.

you kno what? You are right! Keep devs out of the forums!
after 1 year, this “strategy” has brought us to
- the worst meta ever seen in this game
- empty spvp maps
- long tournament queues
- entire guilds gone
- unbalanced professions
- broken mechanics
- and so on
so if you think that continuing to ignore the players is the way to go… Just wait another year. (If there is still someone playing this game) it will be awesome for sure!

tbh, we have this meta EXACTLY because they look at the forums, take THE WORST INPUT POSSIBLE FROM ONE OF THE MOST DUMB COMMUNITY EVER and balance according to it.
“Necro is UP, buff pls UEEEEE UEEEEE”
“Ranger is UP, buff pls UEEEEEEE UEEEEE”
“Thief too stronk, nerf pls UEEEEEEEEEE UEEEEE " ( they buff it into something different, still they cry)
“Mesmer too stronk, pls nerf UEEEE UEEEE ( condi meta arises, mesmers disappear)
“Warrior too UP, pls buff UEEEE UEEEE ( here they come with 10 secs berserker stance stunlock warriors).
“Ele too stronk, pls nerf UEEEEE UEEEE ( they broke ele mobility, healing and condi cleanse, forcing them into subotpimal one shot wonders).
/BALANCE.

For my Guild:
We leave because there is nothing Deatmatch like…. I love the mechanics of the Game…We all do….thats why we play 2-3Times in the week…
Hoping till the End that any Kind of DM Arena will come…
Duel Arenas….only Deathmatch!
Small Teams, maybe customize Servers without ranking J4F
Simple Ranking System:
Your Team starts with 1000Points. +10 for win -10 for loss
lets write a letter to there bosses and lets ask to make the PVP DEVS playing this kitten conquest mode 8h per day for a month with META BUILDS
maby than they understand

I found this out just now.. despite my cynical pokes at them..
Dev’s are people too.. with deadlines..families.. vacations.. etc..
{NB: legendary can be send to this accountname..}

>havent had a dev post in over a week
that’s cute try the dungeon forums
No section should suffer like the dungeon section, devs don’t even go there, no dev has posted in over 2 months and that’s not likely to change.
Most of the other sections are accustomed to devs answering their questions, for something in the dungeon section to be answered you need 38 threads (yes, I counted) and we don’t even get a dev…
Is currently emotionally unstable because Breaking Bad is over

Well, the players in general (even the ones that played those professions) told them more than once, twice, 10 times what they should do to tune down those professions without totally braking them.
Did they took any on the suggestions in consideration? not even close, they did whatever they wanted, the way they wonted and told us to kittening “adapt”.
and if you all notice they constantly say “WE feel it’s in a good place” “what WE thought it was best” WE this WE that, never the community…
well ok they do mention the community once or twice when they say “the community thinks this and that BUT WE (…)”
If its their game and it’s all about them, let THEM play it the way THEY want… with each other….
