So guys i main elementalist and used it for my placement matches. Got 7W 3L and in all of my matches of course i can only get top healer. The game put me in mid silver 2. So what do you guys think will happen if i have used my thief for my placement matches and played it optimal (+1ing / decapping / moving alot through the whole game) will the game put me in a higher mmr? I’m just curious cause i got almost 80% win ratio when playing my thief now and i regret not using him in my placement matches

Your answer, no, there is no in-game measurement of skill in the way you described. If you do better on your thief then use him. Other than that, 7w 3L is in no way a measurement of in game skill. The obvious argument seen on the forums regarding Ratings/league placement.

Hmm okay. So if i remember correctly there was a soft reset in mmr this season but they also factor your previous mmr in calculating mmr placement? Is that why some people was placed in higher division than me with the same win ratio or is it because they played better during their placement matches?

it is a mixture of their mmr in prevision seasons and how they did (as in who they beat and how much) in placements.

a guildie of mine got a placement in diamond because of 8-2 she never played pvp before. what this thing will do is thei people will Q up along with players who really belong in platinum and get dragged down by these players who accidentally got placement really high.

I went 5/5 with a couple of different classes (engi/ele) and got placed mid silver. So I really don’t think it matters much. For context I was in diamond S1 and 2, ruby in S3 as I stopped caring about PvP for a while, and emerald in S4 as I played like a total of 5 matches all season.

Posted this on other threads already but as I’ve said, s5 is bull. Yes I did this all solo que, I need to git gud and duo que right. Not going to bother trying to climb to where I truly belong. Thnx for the ascended gear Anet tho, Cheers.

Oh man i feel you. I guess i’m lucky getting silver cause i am slowly climbing but i can’t imagine the grind to get out of bronze just because you got bad placement.

The climb out of silver is mind numbing right now. I’m getting like +9 to +12 a win. Still 63 points off of gold.

That winstreak is so beautiful to look at. Even though the grind is hard i know you can make it! See you in platinum / legendary perhaps?

Haha, maybe one day. I’ve been taking it slow lately. Joined a new guild and I’m actually getting to do raids for once. And now I’m terrified of breaking that win streak. The ladder anxiety is real.
