I just finished playing a match where we were 4v5, and won 502-499. We were a 5 man party and one of my teammates disconnected halfway through the match. To my dismay, when the match ended I noticed I lost 2 pips despite winning the match. I feel that I shouldn’t be punished for my teammates shoddy internet. I would like to have 2 pips added back to me and my teammates accounts’ as well as another pip for the win; 3 pips in total. This system is broken and is punishing players for things they have no control over. I will provide the account names of my teammates for retribution.
The current dishonor system is WTF dumb. This is what happened:
We Q up as a team, wait 8m, and face another premade
3m into the game one of our guys DCs bc nature
We play like maniacs and win 4v5… 502-499
We get punished and lose 2 pips because our teammate DC’s

Why on earth is MY win listed as “desertion”, if I’m not the one who deserted? Playing and working hard to win a 4v5 is literally the complete opposite of deserting your team.
And why on earth does the enemy deserve to gain pips and move up the league for LOSING a game where they have an enormous advantage?
Anet, plz. We demand pips in the form of consumable items.

OP (Master Saitama), you should be the last person complaining about losing pips. I have not yet seen more severe abuse of the system / balance since leagues were launched.
How dare you ask for 3 pips when you yourself have the audacity to group up as a 5 man party consisting of 3 diamonds, 1 ruby and and 1 EMERALD. On top of that, you were running 2 mesmers and 3 revenants.
Lets not beat around the bush, we all know you have that emerald to lower your MMR. Hope you feel good about making it to legendary while farming solo queue players for two weeks straight using the cheesiest comp possible.
Next time you post here regarding a flaw in the system, please take one look in the mirror.

Although my league is low (because I don’t play this game anymore since anet steals my pips and kitten a grindfest), I have pretty good MMR and we’ve been playing against top players all day, when they’re around to play. How else should I move up the league system besides Qing with my friends? Do you actually expect me to be stuck in noobville while I soloq and bash my head on the wall? Why is it my fault that Anet’s system gave your soloqers a match against our premade?
Also, l2p the meta, or make the next meta that is better than this one.

I apologize, but it came across as what I said earlier, partying up with an emerald to lower your MMR. But you wouldn’t do that at all, you were simply playing with a friend.
I ran into Kaypud (Diamond) and Zoose (Emerald) earlier in a 5 man premade, I am sure he was playing with his friend as well who just happens to be emerald and on his alt account.
I hate to say it, as I’ve been more than supportive over the minor quirks of the system… but frankly, the pip loss/gain system needs a TON of work. In it’s current state, it’s worthless.
I personally have subpar/choppy internet, and I d/c occasionally (3 times in the past 100 games). Personally, I’m fine with losing a pip if I’m the one that D/C’s (though if I reconnect quickly, as I usually do, it’s a bit of a bummer.) But when my team loses pips even if they win 4v5? What is that even trying to prove? Aren’t you supposed to gain pips if you do well? isn’t winning a 4v5 practically the definition of doing extremely well?
Honestly, I’m fine with waiting until next league, since this will only go until january and I’m busy with the holidays around, but I seriously hope they adjust the pip system between leagues.. If not, I’m not going to be concerned with anything past ruby.
P.S. looking at that screenshot, I noticed that there’s a Genos too. As someone that started watching one punch man lately, I love all those references

@Captain Sam This is my only account, look at my forum history. I’m not playing on an alt to boost my friend’s leagues – I’m playing with my friends to boost my own league because if I soloq I get matched with noobs.

Hey! I was in that match against you! My team would’ve won by 1 more tick if my teammate (the Marauder Scrapper) didn’t overextend that mid fight when you guys plus’d him and won by his death. Man, that was a really close match. Good game, Man!

There’s nothing different than before that league system, the queue didn,t change, they just added pips, tiers and divisions behind it…
But now people grouping up are horrible abusers of a system and should be banned…. they can,t even have the right of insurging themselves against a kittenty system either…

@ Cynz Look, I agree that a 5man vs soloqers is very dumb. I’m a strong advocate for seperating the Qs. We had gone against several 5man teams, but anet’s matchmaking put us against soloqers. Not my fault.
@Power Bottom tell me about it man… Happened again today. Friend DC’d and returns to game, and we all get punished.

I just had the exact same thing happen to me and my team.
One of our team members got disconnected and we played a good part of the game 4 vs 5. Our friend came back before the game was over and we managed to win DESPITE playing at a disadvantage for maybe half of the game.
Now all of us lost 2 pips and he has 8 minutes of dishonor.
Same thing just happened with my friends we had a guildie DC still managed to win and people lost pips for winning, cant even progress in the ladder…
you’re pretty much telling us not to take people to pvp who don’t have the most stable connection
Same thing happened to me, and we were four emeralds and one amber. I only lost one pip (first I got in emerald) but the rest lost two and that for winning the game with worse odds.
It’s bad enough if the dc’d gamer only looses a pip (considering he came back shortly after) but to punish the whole team for a bad internet connections….
It’s an online game, dc’s happen. They suck, but you shouldn’t get punished for it.
Really, we just won 4vs5 and were actually punished for being much better… This really needs to be fixed. I’m not saying you should be rewarded for playing deprived of a player but you shouldn’t be punished at least.

Not that I am taking any sides as I don’t know the truth but to this statement I am going to say.
Me and a few Guildies are playing PvP a few times a week and most of the time we are 4 players who play PvP the most but then a little now and then we have a few players in our guild that is interested to play ranked with us so we let them join us.
In our case we are “only” emerald all of us but I think you get what I mean.

Oh… And by the way, havent devs said that they will fix the BUG that makes players loose pips when someone leaves their team? It is just that it takes time to fix I guess and we can only hope that this bug gets fixed on teuseday.

I mean seriously, Leagues or pips do not mean a f.4king thing (about skill, it means a lot of games played and/or system abused).
Every new system implemented by Anet is worse than the previous one. To be honest I think the first Ladder we had (with no decay, but split between Solo and TeamQ) was the least worse of all the Ladder systems.

If you have played in ESL then you sure don’t need randoms to tell you how playing with 1 emerald and 3 diamonds/1 ruby results in easy matches. So I kinda see how some soloqers in this thread are skeptic about the story you guys are telling. To be honest you guys, even if true of intent have gotten many ez matches and basically free pips, when you lose some pips due to a dc you come here asking pips to be returned. Now personally I don’t doubt that you simply are not as invested in gw2 as your friends when leagues were introduced, and as a result you are lower tier. Alot of groups actually are in this position, I regurarly queue with 1/2 friends and sometimes when guildies hear us having fun and winning a couple of matches in a row they want to participate. As a result we do feel the matches with such guildies are a lot more in our favor.
Needless to say dcing and losing pips needs to be adressed, or is it more accurate to say the way pips are rewarded should be adressed in general. I do however not agree that you guys should get your pips back, at this point all pvpers that have played a considerate amount of matches have been victim to somebody dcing and as a result losing pips.
