At the start of a match, what can you tell?
I got skyhammer vs 3 engies, a fear necro, and a bunker guard.
Imagine how that went.

was that last night?! I got the same setup in the same map, we ended up 3v5. were we in the same team? xD
I wouldn’t judge the other team before the match starts. It helps to look at their comp and weapon sets so you get an idea of their builds, but don’t assume a decked out char = scrub.
I’ve had plenty of angry people whispering me after I beat them on point telling me to go back to PvE with my “shiny legendary” and “trash title”. Which never made sense, considering that I won.
Believe it or not, there are a lot of people that play and excel at all game modes.
Stereotypes aren’t mostly true in SoloQ, I find. You can win 4v5s, you can beat all warrior teams, you can beat all engis on skyhammer.
Player matters more than class for the most part.
I usually feel better about my team when it looks like they have put effort and time into the toon they are on. Though from experience the stereotype fails either way.
Myself all my 8 toons are decked out in nice looking gear sets.. Skins (and dyes) are a big deal to me and almost all my PvP gold goes towards that. No legendaries though because I’ve never cared for PVE.
I never make assumptions about a player’s skill from their gear. I’ve seen level 1 characters in starter gear wreak total havoc in a match, and level 80’s in Legendaries who lost horribly to me. (And I’m not a very good PvP player, so that’s really saying something!)
in our sea of sorrows casual team, sometimes we have an asura engineer from tarnished coast join us for some team arena runs when we cannot get a 5th guild member.
he wear shades, have a black colored Afro hair style, and in fully shinning celestial white armor. kitten, i should take a screen shot next time.
i only realized his shinning bright appearance setup yesterday after playing many rounds together. >.<
very often he gets a lot of hate whispers from the other team as we played.
i remember one elementalist player calling him out in map chat “ESP ENGI” and “CHEATER” etc. not sure what he did to make them so angry though.
I just check their account names if I don’t recognize the character names. Just to see if any of them is familiar/known to me. Armor is less important, there’s a very small number of people that play only PvP. There was a lot of legendary weapons in the final rounds of ToL.
